Summary
They say you can't go home again...oh, if only that were true.
Thanks to a series of unfortunate events - and one backstabbing frenemy - home is exactly where I'm headed. Back to Winterspell Lake, the small community in Eastern Washington where magic runs rampant and humans are outlawed.
Faster than you can say hocus pocus I'm unpacking my bags and settling into the guest room of my parents' house, trying to ignore the creeping sensation that I'll never break free again.
The one thing Winterspell has going for it is the sweets shop in the center of town, a bakery filled with magical creations designed to enchant the taste buds and charm even the pickiest of connoisseurs. Luckily for me, I get the friends and family discount since my parents own the famous Sugar Shack. If I want room and board, I have to frost cupcakes and sling macaroons with the rest of the fam.
Unfortunately, things in Winterspell aren't all sugar cookies and rainbows. According to the local news, a dangerous sea serpent has claimed the lives of three missing girls. The journalist in me has to have a look for myself, and what I find is something far more deadly.
Something that makes me wish I'd stayed in the bakery.

really nice book
really nice relaxed listen. narration not fantastic and it felt like the story toom a while to get going. I think it could have been edited down in the beginning but once it got going I've really enjoyed listening.

The best in the series.
I listen to the books out of order and found that, whilst they are interconnected standalone, it’s best to start from the beginning.
This book was a ton of mystery fun, completely clean and the romance portion was kind of non existent (apart from 3 guys showing her interest and her contemplation of them), we don’t even get a kiss 😭. But the mystery was interesting even if our Dolittle Sherlock was often wrong at her assumptions.
Narration was excellent

Enjoyable listen
Really enjoyed this book ‘Sprinkles and Sea Serpents’ I’ve read this author before and I’m never disappointed. Narrator is perfect and very easy to listen too. A cosy witch story with a hint of mystery.

Engaging story
This is a light and entertaining mystery and just what I needed to take my mind off some real life challenges. I loved the story and how it unfolded with some great plot twists, narration of different voice really added to the story.
It did take a while to get into the story as the level of detail in the first couple of chapters was high. But as it got going I was easily hooked and listened t it in 3 sittings.

basic
its not about the bakery at all, its just there to justify the title i guess. its an easy feelgood book, characters have basic personalities, all very kind but not super interesting. a fair deal of romance full of "will they wont they" vibes.

As advertised. A fun cosy modern fantasy adventure with romantic undertones.
As advertised. A fun cosy modern fantasy adventure with romantic undertones. A secret witching society, very much like our own, except where magic is the norm. Warm hearted fun with talking animals. who could resist.
