About this listen

The thrilling adventure based on the acclaimed Star Trek: Picard TV series!

Starfleet was everything for Cristóbal Rios…until one horrible, inexplicable day when it all went wrong. Aimless and adrift, he grasps at a chance for a future as an independent freighter captain in an area betrayed by the Federation, the border region with the former Romulan Empire. His greatest desire: to be left alone.

But solitude isn’t in the cards for the captain of La Sirena, who falls into debt to a roving gang of hoodlums from a planet whose society is based on Prohibition-era Earth. Teamed against his will with Ledger, his conniving overseer, Rios begins an odyssey that brings him into conflict with outlaws and fortune seekers, with power brokers and relic hunters across the stars.

Exotic loves and locales await—as well as dangers galore—and Rios learns the hard way that good crewmembers are hard to find, even when you can create your own. And while his meeting with Jean-Luc Picard is years away, Rios finds himself drawing on the Starfleet legend’s experiences when he discovers a mystery that began on one of the galaxy’s most important days....

Where’s Picard

Where’s Picard? Ok if the was the original or next generation or deep space nine or voyager or discovery then you can have a story where the main character isn’t the captain. This book is Picard so he should at least be the secondary character. By the end I was happy with this story but it took about 50 chapters. In the beginning I thought the story was boring and compared to all the other Star Trek story it was a bit pointless. No strange new words, no new life and new civilisations. As always Robert Petkoff’s performance was very good and very entertaining

Can highly recommend this audio book.
The narration is top notch as well as it being a great story.
Thoughtful, funny in parts and thrilling.
I am a fussy bugger so I will give this
11/10 marks.
Thanks for an enjoyable book.

The best of the Star Trek Picard books!

A great, funny ,and entertaining read. The book draws references to every live action Star Trek shows, some simple reference and "cameos" others like Next Generation, the Original Series and, of course Picard, more profoundly. Also a great performance by the narrator who makes a great work with the different accents, especially the 1920's jargon used in the book.

Hilarious and frustrating tale

Captain Rios is both the most annoying and hilarious Freight Captain in the multiverse. That said, it is not all he is. Read to find out!

Fun character study touching many corners of trek.

I had mixed feelings about STP, but I absolutely loved this book. It does a great job at making new trek and older trek feel more like one big history. I loved all the characters and hope they appear or at least get referenced in the STP series. Rios could easily carry a series of his own. I hope there's another Rios centric book coming!

A great Star Trek

Excellent story and characters from John Jackson Miller brought superbly to life by Robert Petkoff who has excelled with his portrayal of each. For me an almost Agatha Christie feeling here.
Thoroughly enjoyed this hard to put down episode and would love to see some of the “elements” brought on to screen.
Well worth listening or reading.
