About this listen
In a stunning turn of events, Luke Skywalker and his son, Ben, joined forces with members of the Sith armada sent to kill them - and turned their combined might against the monstrous being Abeloth. But with Abeloth gone, the Sith reverted to form, making a treacherous attempt on Luke's life.
Luke and Ben have no time for retaliation. A new and even more insidious threat is rising. Unless the Skywalkers survive to sound the alarm, the galaxy will suffer as it has never suffered before. But the reinforcements they need remain grounded on Coruscant, where the political battle of wills between the Jedi Council and Galactic Alliance Chief of State Natasi Daala has reached a boiling point.
Now Luke and Ben must go on the run, taking along the inscrutable - and dangerous - Sith apprentice Vestara Khai. With a host of Sith warriors in hot pursuit, the Skywalkers soon find themselves trapped on the moon Pydyr, caught between their former allies and a mob of angry Fallanassi. A new truce may be their only hope.

Would you listen to Star Wars: Fate of the Jedi: Vortex again? Why?
No, i never re-read or re-listen to books as i tend to remember them too well and it ruins my enjoyment. What did you like best about this story?
The political confrontations between the Jedi and the GA, this has been the best thread through the whole series for me. It has always hinted at outright war but never quite got there, makes you wish the Jedi would just put the Chief of state in her place.Have you listened to any of Marc Thompson’s other performances? How does this one compare?
Marc has a very consistent level of performance throughout the series, he reads in such a way that he is not noticed. This is exactly what i want from the performance as you are focused on the story and not the performance of the narrator. Top marks for Mr Thompson here. Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
the final confrontation between the Jedi masters.Best in the series so far

The standards of voice and sound effects are very high and this potentially takes this audio format beyond the experience of reading a print book in my view as one can relax and be immersed in the action and engage the imagination.
When the audiobooks are as well done as this, in many ways it is an experience that nothing else can re-create. In movies, you can't approach the complexity of plot for example. I would say this quality of writing and production is the future.
The unabridged format is a massive improvement on earlier Star Wars novels put to audio which were heavily abridged, leaving you feeling disappointed.
However, the unabridged format does show up books which are slow in pace or low in quality. In this case, that is not an issue and I'd recommend this definately.
Excellent!

If you could sum up Star Wars: Fate of the Jedi: Vortex in three words, what would they be?
Detailed space sagaWhat other book might you compare Star Wars: Fate of the Jedi: Vortex to, and why?
The book stands up well with the original story's and helps develop the rich world in which the the story's are all set. With the help of original sounding voices and sound effect this really sends your mind to the dark star lit spaces between planets or the harsh metal build ships. You feel every bit a part of this book as you would a big budget movie in 3D. This really builds a world in your mind.Which character – as performed by Marc Thompson – was your favourite?
Thompson brings Han Solo back with a bang, you really feel the character and the words are brought to life by the classic sounding voice.Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
All the characters surrounding on the side of the Jedi are built up with such good back story's, when you find your self about to say good by to one prepare to feel the force.Any additional comments?
This was my first step into Star Wars books and I jumped right in the middle. Crazy move as lots had taken place in the previous books but the way the characters are written and the back story they all have it does not take long to settle down into the flow. This is my 4 ever book and what an audio book, allowing me to enter a world I previously did not have access to.Jumping in half way through - A dyslexics journey
