About this listen

Twenty-one years after the Battle of Endor, the New Republic will face an even darker enemy....

More than two decades after the heroes of the Rebel Alliance destroyed the Death Star and broke the power of the Emperor, the New Republic has struggled to maintain peace and prosperity among the peoples of the galaxy. But unrest has begun to spread and threatens to destroy the Republic’s tenuous reign.

Into this volatile atmosphere comes Nom Anor, a charismatic firebrand who heats passions to the boiling point, sowing seeds of dissent for his own dark motives. And as the Jedi and the Republic focus on internal struggles, a new threat surfaces from beyond the farthest reaches of the Outer Rim - an enemy bearing weapons and technology unlike anything New Republic scientists have ever seen.

Suddenly, Luke Skywalker; his wife, Mara; Han Solo; Leia Organa Solo; and Chewbacca - along with the Solo children - are thrust again into battle, to defend the freedom so many have fought and died for. But this time, the power of the Force itself may not be enough....

While the story is good, I don't like the voice of the narrator. I don't know if I am just spoiled by other Star Wars narrators, but if this one tried to sound like the characters, he failed miserably. All were bad but Han Solo sounded at times like a demon

Good story but bad narrator.

after mark Thompson it's a hard listen. also feels too short with seemingly scenes missing. wish audible had the non abridged version. unfortunately this will be the last abridged book I buy not worth the time or full price for 25%

where's mark Thompson

I read the books years ago thought this would be a nice little catch up but it's terrible if I hadn't read the book I would have been completely lost.

If you haven't read the book don't get this.

As much as some of the sound effects used are sometimes overpowering; this version is only 3 hours of 12hours … it’s not just a little cut out … it’s three quarters of the novel

Not even half the novel

The narration was poor and the addition of the sound effects dragged me out of the story more than it aided. It was intrusive

Sound effects on narration uff

Just finished Star Wars: The New Jedi Order: Vector Prime audiobook.

One of my favourite Star Wars novels, one of my favourite authors (Drizzt!), a usually solid narrator, probably my single favourite franchise...

It's not very good at all. Salvatore's novel has been utterly butchered, Heald's narration is jarring at best compared to the likes of Jonathan Davis and Marc Thompson and characters sound nothing like their counterparts. Even the big death scene felt rushed and anticlimactic. Very far removed from the original novel.

I was not expecting this at all. I much prefer audiobooks as I can listen whilst driving or walking - far more convenient than traditional books for my busy schedule. Right now I want to just go back to reading the old fashioned way.

This really was that bad. And Anthony Heald is a genuinely good narrator, R. A. Salvatore is a genuinely good author and this is a genuinely good story.

Disappointed
