About this listen
On the same night that Alex finds himself disowned and sleeping on his best friend's couch, he meets Liam, who saves him from being mugged. It's a strange time to start a relationship, but everything about Liam feels right. When it becomes apparent that Liam isn't the prince charming he seems to be, Alex has to deal with some hard truths about not just his new boyfriend, but his own history as well.
Liam is just trying to do his job, but everything keeps getting in the way. First he gets assigned to watch some stranger, then somehow, he finds himself dating the guy. Even if it doesn't offend the boss, Liam knows the wrong thing to do when he does it. He finds himself wondering, though: is his job really the most important thing in his life, or can he walk away from it all for a brand new relationship?
Straight from the Heart contains sexual scenes, and is intended for an audience age 18 and up.

A great listen!!
A thrilling adventure, with an undercover cop and sweet and somewhat clueless musician.
This was an interesting read. I enjoyed the balance between thrill and feelings and felt these characters were relatable and unique. I really liked Alex. He’s somewhat naive and innocent, yet surprisingly smart and observant. I loved that he hadn’t even thought about sex, sexuality or relationships until a (not quite) chance encounter sparks his interest. I found his “coming too” his sexuality moment wonderful done and even a bit humorous!! I loved that he’s 23 and had no clue he was gay or bi or something else. It made for a unique first time and first relationship.
I loved Liam and his care and curiosity of Alex. His undercover cop side was balanced well with his caring nature and lack of ability to lie, which made for some funny moments. I liked the character development between Liam and Alex and the journey they take together. I loved their first meeting and was interested to see where they’d go and Sam doesn’t disappoint. I look forward to the other reads in this series and hope to see more of Alex and Liam in the future!!

eh
I didn't find myself pulled into the story nor did I enjoy this narrator. it might have been different if I read the book rather than listened to it but this one just didn't do it for me.

An odd couple!
One has left college for his band, the other serves one of the mafia lords. Their worlds collide in an interesting way. It’s all deception and lies but at the heart of it there’s true love. Loved the innocence on Alex and the protectiveness on his “guard-boyfriend” interesting twists.

A good book to lose yourself in
This book is a promising start to what I hope will be a great series. I found Straight from the Heart to be a very interestingly dynamic of a book. The characters are well thought out, the plot is lively, and the narration make for a listen.

Cute Story
Worth your time. Narration was pretty good. Alex and Liam's first meeting was super cute and made me laugh. I'd love to have Keagan's story next... maybe paired with Alex's best friend? :)

Fun and sexy entertainment
This was a fun and sexy story with good ole boy mobsters with unexpected standards, a rich kid who walks away from the money to follow his dream, and an enforcer trailing him without knowing why. There is some violence, but it is treated somewhat lightly, mostly with a comedic flavor, rather than dark and traumatic. Alex made me laugh with his unconcerned attitude, and Liam just seemed confused about what he wanted. What better way to keep your eye on a guy than from his bed, eh? Lies, double crosses, and a few surprises kept the story interesting and moving along at a crisp pace.
The narration was good, with reasonable pacing.
I received a complimentary copy of this audiobook at my request have voluntarily left this honest review.

Entertaining story
Straight from the Heart was an enjoyable and entertaining way to spend an afternoon.
The two main characters, Liam and Alex, are likeable and uncomplicated and the story line interesting and fun.
The narrator is new to me and I found him to be a little ‘unpolished’, using very little variation in his characters so it was difficult to distinguish between them at times but he certainly didn’t distract from the story itself.

Buckle up and enjoy the ride
I've come to this via Sam Burns other series which are paranormal and myth based. This is a straight up contemporary bodyguard/undercover cop romance. It's a fun romp complete with incompetent cop, humorous banter and instalove. Suspend your disbelief and enjoy the ride.

A Great Listen
This is the first book in The Wilde Love Series. An intriguing book with good writing. The plot was entertaining and it was steady throughout the book. I found the story and characters captivating. The characters were developed and thought out. Liam and Alex are the MC’s of this book. The narration was good though the narrators voice wasn’t to my taste he did a good job. I can recommend this book as a good read/listen. I voluntarily read an advance copy of this book for an honest review.

Newbie and enjoyed
This was my first time listening to both the author and narrator and they make a great combo! I really enjoyed the story which is in a way opposites attract. It had a great captivating storyline and they were really hot and endearing together! Cant wait to check out more from both
