About this listen
Fight them, Mr Brigance. To the bitter end. We must prevail.
In the long-awaited successor to the novel that launched his phenomenal career, John Grisham brings us the powerful sequel to A Time to Kill. As filled with twists as it is with legal mastery, Sycamore Row proves beyond doubt that John Grisham is in a league of his own.
Jake Brigance has never met Seth Hubbard, or even heard of him, until the old man's suicide note names him attorney for his estate. The will is dynamite. Seth has left 90 per cent of his vast, secret fortune to his housemaid.
The vultures are circling even before the body is cold: the only subject more incendiary than money in Ford County is race, and this case has both.
As the relatives contest the will, and unscrupulous lawyers hasten to benefit, Jake searches for answers to the many questions left by Seth Hubbard's death.
What made him write that last-minute will leaving everything to a poor black woman named Lettie Lang?
Why did he choose to kill himself on the desolate piece of land known as Sycamore Row?
And what was it that Seth and his brother witnessed as children that, in his words, 'no human should ever see'?

The story line leaves you breathless…
This is one of those books where you can’t put down until it’s done. At the same time, you don’t want to finish it due to it being an amazing story…and great read! Once again Mr. Grisham has outdone himself.

Enjoyable
Great read by John Grisham. I'm not sure if I've read anything by him before. The story is about a man dying of cancer. He takes his own life and leaves his his money to his black housekeeper. The story basically outlines the fight the lawyer given the responsibility of honouring the will has with man's children who contest it. My only gripe was the fact that the housekeeper had been accused of getting another employer to change her will but this was not properly explored in the story despite the fact that she had been accused of the same thing with the man. Worth the credit.

Brilliant
What did you like about this audiobook?
Loved the persons voice. I was a little reluctant to get into audio books but purchased the monthly subscription for my husband. He has Parkinson's so he can not concentrate to read. I tried listening myself and I was hooked. It is so relaxing to be read to.
How has the book increased your interest in the subject matter?
I was a big fan any way and was early excited to hear that there was a follow up to the Jake Bregance character of A Time T Kill.
. So yes I am now even more interested.
Does the author present information in a way that is interesting and insightful, and if so, how does he achieve this?
Yes, he does. The tone of his voice and how he describes the details. But the narraters voice helps.
What did you find wrong about the narrator's performance?
Nothing. His voice is perfect for this story.
Do you have any additional comments?
Just loved the story, the narrators voice, everything.
