This series has three all-stars so I knew it was going to be an amazing start to the series and hearing it, it checks off so many boxes.

There’s so much happening. Who can Sarah depend upon to survive all she’s been thrown into.

Dario is brutal at the start, the kind of alpha a-hole everyone loves to hate. But Sarah is resigned to accept her fate for now. Until she can escape back home.

Yet there is deception and twists that will have you questioning who is friend and who is foe.

There definitely heat between Sarah and Dario and he opens up somewhat to her, so she opens her eyes to the Collonians she swore would save her, only to be disillusioned by her family and with it she questions her life so far.

Just when she starts building trust in Dario. There’s a huge what the hell that happens with a cliffhanger that left me seeking the next book now!

I have missed hearing the talented Erin Mallon. She is amazing here. Bringing out the innocence of Sarah while showing us her resilience and strength as she tries to come to terms with the direction her life has taken. I really love her ease of switching characters from male to female with care for showing us each character so that we feel like we’re right there with them.

Teddy’s voice is also one that I love. He’s got the attitude and chalkiness of Dario hands down. I’m just not sure if I like Dario at this point but love when a character redeems themselves which I believe he will do in the future books.

Sarah is also in for a rude indoctrination as the truth about her previously sheltered existence becomes clearer by the day. Her family’s casual and intentional cruelty becomes more and more obviously sinister to her as Dario refuses to let her look away from the truth.

Dario won’t let Sarah remain ignorant to the truth, but her genuine strength and goodness may be his undoing. Even though Dario begins to have feelings for Sarah, he won’t be deterred from his mission: Bring down her family at any cost.

This is book 1 of this series. It’s truly an excellent listen. Erin Mallon and Teddy Hamilton breathe life into CD Reiss’ characters. Could not stop listening to this book.

This one looked intriguing and oh boy was I right that it was going to be good. There are so many twists and so many lies to unravel. Each time I thought I knew which way the book was going to go it changed and I just loved it so much. This was just a fantastic read and the narrators gave so much more depth to the story

I was so angry for this young lady for not fighting back, yet she was taught not to. And I may not agree with the way the Author used BDSM but the story was very good. The more the story goes along the more you will understand.

This book has a lot of everything. With so much going on you have to concentrate on, who is who. A great ending that makes you want to listen to book to straight away. A fantastic performance from both narrators.

I probably should’ve looking into this more before I started, but the FMC is very naive and innocent having essentially been raised in a patriarchal cult cut off from the rest of society. This is pretty much the opposite of what I look for in a heroine.

Narration: I love both of these narrators, but I’m too use to Teddy Hamilton in the good guy role that I couldn’t believe I him as a dominating mafia boss.
