About this listen
Private security has never been so risky—or so tempting.
Ex-military security specialist Conlan James avoids commitment like the plague. His job, his Harley, and an occasional one-night stand are all he needs—or so he tells himself. But after he rescues Jess from a tense situation, he can’t get the shy, sexy brunette out of his mind. He can teach her self-defense, but can he shield his own scarred heart?
Southern belle Jess Kingston spent eight weeks healing from an ex-boyfriend’s brutal attack. Now she’s ready to put her life back together. Her ex, Brit, has other ideas. She needs someone who can teach her how to fight back—someone like the tough former soldier who rides to her rescue.
As the deadly game of cat and mouse intensifies, the heat between Con and Jess becomes an inferno. He’ll do anything to keep her safe. She’ll do anything to survive. Her vengeful ex is determined to destroy them both, and all it would take is one wrong move.
“Frightening suspense and a beautiful love story.” (Tea and Book)

Solid audiobook in a solid series, solid narrators
I wasn’t much engrossed in the romance, but I still enjoyed the characters and their story quite a lot.
Conlan has been lusting after Jess without knowing much about her for some time. Of course, Jess has been too. It’s Jess’s complicated situation–her ex has beaten her and walked free, and is now harassing her–that brings them together, as Conlan will make his mission to protect her. But not at the cost of his heart.
He becomes her bodyguard, and sure, he’s guarding her body, even from herself at first. While she’s offering herself, Conlan denies his feelings for, in my opinion–and his friend Jack’s–stupid reasons. But that game of will they won’t they creates some delicious tension between them. A tension resolved with a bang when they finally do the deed.
It’s only the fact that they go from one to twenty in a few seconds that kept me out of the romance. It’s one thing to be attracted, but that kind of obsession isn’t healthy. And the way they quickly become each other’s forever was a bit unbelievable. But they had chemistry, I can admit that.
Domestic abuse and manipulation are at the heart of the book. They’re the reason behind Jess’s need of Conlan, and behind Conlan’s rejection and his job, and everything is tied up in a pretty deadly bow when the ex keeps coming back. While there’s not much suspense in the suspense part of the story–the reader knows who the bad guy is, and they expect a happy ending–it’s still riveting, thanks to the characters. Be it Jess’s justified anxiety, or Conlan’s fear for Jess’s safety.
The narration was duet style and perfect. The male narrator did the voices of the hero and the bad guy, and the way he could express both was incredible. The female narrator did a great job too. A solid audiobook in a solid series with solid narrators.

Supernova heat - Alpha protector romance
I am becoming addicted to Ella Sheridan's books because they are so good! This one is no exception, an intense, gripping and sexy tale of the shy Jess who is recovering from a severe attack from her ex boyfriend and seeks help from the dark, gorgeous biker, Conlan, she has been day-dreaming about. In fear for her life as her ex's stalking starts to escalate and with the police not willing to believe her, she turns to Conlan's private security firm for lessons in self defence.
One steamy lesson and the story soon picks up pace in this dark but hot bodyguard, protector romance about a man who will stop at nothing to defend the woman he can't quite admit to himself that he loves. The chemistry between Jess and Con is electric and their backstories are expertly crafted so that their emerging relationship feels real and raw.
Ella Sheridan is not shy of delving into the truly dark side of male violence in her books and the terrible realities that some women face in a world where they are often left to fend for themselves. It might be triggering in that sense as there are references to online and real-life stalking and obsession in this one and the terrifying realisation that in our modern world it is way too easy for predators to torment people and get away with it.
But what I liked about this book is that despite that, Jess is not the timid little mouse her tormentor claims she is. She is brave and despite her fear she digs her claws in and fights to live her life the way that she wants to. She doesn't retreat into herself, she decides to defend herself and later when things progress with Con she is also the one to fight and own her pleasure. In short, she is not doormat heroine but relatable and fierce and played to perfection by Stella Hunter in the audiobook.
Ella Sherdian also gives us the ultimate fantasy in Conlan, a beautiful alpha protector who truly sees our shy heroine despite all her insecurities and is brought to his knees by falling hard for her. Jason Clarke is the only choice to play him, with his deep rumbling voice which just oozes dominant knight in shining armour vibes so that you just get swept up in the passion and heat of this one. But be warned, he can switch it up and play the creepiest and scariest of bad guys in the same book and it is chilling as it is impressive.
If you want an elegant, intense and addictive protector romance with a hard earned HEA then step right up and download this one. It will have you on the edge of your seat with suspense and burning up with plenty steamy pleasure drowning scenes to keep you satisfied.

Sexy romantic suspense
Such an entertaining audio. Lots of action, suspense, and sexy time as Conlan James tries his best not to fall for sexy researcher Jess Kingston whilst protecting her from her abusive stalker ex boyfriend. The ex boyfriend in question seems to be one step ahead of them throughout, and both Jess and Con are underestimating just how far his reach goes which, I’ve for to say, caused me a few heart in mouth moments. Also some pretty intense scenes to add to the storyline. Add in narration, in duet, from Jason Clarke (swoon), and Stella Hunter, and I was in audio heaven. Loved it.
I was gifted a copy of this audiobook, this is my honest review.
