About this listen
Lives are shattered when a killer comes to town.
When Officer Lacey James is called to the scene of a brutal murder, she doesn't recognize the victim. Jonathan Jones—JJ is new to Sweet Home. Everyone Lacey talks to in the close-knit community claims he was a good guy, but someone is lying. Someone wanted JJ dead. And someone else knows why.
On the hunt for the murderer, Lacey reconstructs the victim's trail. A bar fight. A bloody footprint. A faulty timeline. Together with her partner, Eli Davidson, Lacey pieces together the clues while keeping track of the witnesses' lies. Each twist in the case raises new questions about the victim. About the motive behind the crime. Until Lacey and Eli unearth a piece of salacious gossip that sends the investigation reeling down a dark and dangerous path.
Will the killer be punished?
Or will the hunt for the truth land Lacey in the crosshairs of a killer?

Excellent Continuation of Series
I am adoring this series. It's exciting and gripping with just enough secrets to unfold. Lacey is such a realistic character, I can't help but root for her. It's a fast listen and I thoroughly enjoyed following Lacey on to solve the case.
Once again, Cassandra Medcalf was superb in her narration. She does such a good job bringing the story and characters to life.

mystery
Loved the narration of Cassandra Medcalf and Nathan Agin. Perfect, bringing the characters and action to life.
We start with a very brutal murder of Jonathan Jones or known just as JJ who although fairly new to the town was a well liked by all.
Lacey and Eli are on the hunt for the killer, and every possibility seems to uncover another possibility. There are many twists and turns along the way as they try to sort out what is right and wrong. Caleb ohh not happy with him.

LOVED IT!
This was a great mix of suspense, character building and intrigue. I'm not usually a huge fan of thriller type books but I'm so happy I gave this one a go. Lacey was such a great character and felt real and I was really rooting for her the whole time. Definitely want to read more.

Fabulous listen!
Lacey James is quite a detective. In the small town of Sweet Home, Oregon, there is a lot going on and the latest case is the murder of JJ. Lacey is on the job with her partner Eli, leaving the home duties to her husband Caleb. The case is full of questions, with the most unusual of suspects. Will Lacey and Eli find the killer? Will the reason JJ was targeted come to light? What will happen to Caleb and Lacey? Chris Patchell continues the suspense filled mysteries with Lacey at the helm, as we get to know the people of the town, with it's deceit, betrayals and loves. Lacey has a lot to deal with, from work to home and she is left to figure out just what she will do next. This one is a fun whodunnit with a mix of real life. Loved it!
Nathan Agin plays JJ, and he is fabulous. Though short, his performance is powerful and left me loving JJ. Cassandra Medcalf continues her narration as Lacey. She is amazing, pulling out the pain Lacey is having at home and the bravery and cunning she has a detective. I enjoy her interpretation of the story and always look forward to the next one.
