About this listen

For Dr. David Beck, the loss was shattering. And every day for the past eight years, he has relived the horror of what happened. The gleaming lake. The pale moonlight. The piercing screams. The night his wife was taken. The last night he saw her alive.

Everyone tells him it's time to move on, to forget the past once and for all. But for David Beck, there can be no closure. A message has appeared on his computer, a phrase only he and his dead wife know. Suddenly Beck is taunted with the impossible—that somewhere, somehow, Elizabeth is alive.

Beck has been warned to tell no one. And he doesn't. Instead, he runs from the people he trusts the most, plunging headlong into a search for the shadowy figure whose messages hold out a desperate hope.

But already Beck is being hunted down. He's headed straight into the heart of a dark and deadly secret—and someone intends to stop him before he gets there.

This is a brilliant thriller, with twists and turns, and a satisfying ending. One of my favourite Harlan Coben books.

Loved it!

I have listened to a few crime thrillers by famous authors and have come to the realosation that they probably aren't the genre for me. Having said that, this one had enough drama and suspense to persuade me to listen to the end and I'm glad I finished it, although my slight lack of attention will javw me referring to crib notes to help make the ending clearer.
Probably a good read, if you do like that sort of thing. The book seems to follow the formula of a good crime thriller.

Not really my type of book.

Once I’ve started listening I couldn’t stop! I kept making excuses to get stuck back into listening. Everything from the characters, through to the narration and the flow of the storyline was phenomenal.

Gripping story and fantastic narration

Exciting story and excellent narration. A bit stretched out in parts but I'm finding that with a lot of books. Easy to visualise the character. In short I enjoyed listening and would recommend.
