Summary

Miss Brianne Collins is accustomed to getting everything she wants in life. She grew up on a genuine Southern plantation, but she wants more. Joining New York society seems like the ultimate goal, but it isn’t anything like she imagined it would be. Until she meets Lord Julian Kendall and they strike an unlikely friendship.

Julian Kendall is the second son of the Duke of Weston. To alleviate his boredom he starts working as an spy for the crown. In his first assignment he’s sent to America and observe the suffragists there and report back. It seems silly to him but he does as he’s told.

After a while Julian and Brianne’s relationship takes a different turn and with war on the horizon they may never have the chance to discover what is inside each other’s heart. Happiness seems elusive as war ravages the country, but both hold onto hope they have a chance at finding it.

Tempting an American Princess

I wasn't really able to get into this book as much as I would like. It was difficult to connect with the characters. Brianne was spoiled and a big pain, it wasn't till almost the end that I felt she grew up a bit. Julian was arrogant and not in a good way. Their romance was choppy, and didn't bloom entirely in front of the reader. Maybe this style or writing really wasn't my thing, I dont know, but I most likely wouldn't read anything else in this series.

The audio performance by Nicola Delgado was well done. I felt that her accenting had more of an english vibe than aristocratic/upper crust but it came and went a bit. I look forward to listening to another narration by her.
