Worth it
I've been putting off completing this series since I was a kid. I had never gotten further than the half point of Northern Lights in each of my attempts. That was a failing on my part, because reading isn't exactly my best skill. I realised that these stories were in audiobook format and narrated by the author (which I always feel like it brings an extra element to the story) and I was delighted. I haven't been able to stop, I'm really glad to have finally been able to enjoy His Dark Materials fully in a way that I could connect with. Great story, great performance. Worth the wait.

Enjoyable audiobook
I really enjoyed listening to this audiobook, the narrative by Philip Pullman was enjoyable and the cast makes a huge difference, the ending of the trilogy was sad really, I am sure that you will enjoy this book, it is long but well worth every minute.

a thought provoking and beautiful story
i thoroughly enjoyed this entire story. the characters as well as their relationships were interesting, deep and complex. Lyra and Wills relationship is beautiful and innocent and so wonderful making the ending that much more heartbreaking. also creating a great contrast with Lord Asriel and Ms Coulters relationship. in addition the way Lord Asriels unvavering ambition and determination and Ms Coulters deception and lying show up in Lyra captivated me, emphasising how their traits dont make them evil or bad people but their actions do.
the voice acting is also very good especially the younger characters and the atmospheric sound deeply imerses you into the story.
the only criticism i have is that i would have enjoyed a bit more angst and morally gray areas which is probably why Ms Coulter is my favorite character, but it is a very hopeful story so i can' t blame it for not being too moody.
but i really liked how the criticism towards christianity, instetutionalised religion and blind faith was a central part of the story. probably my favorit part was how it subverted the story of Eve changing her rebellion/fall from being what dooms humanity into being humanity's salvation. furthermore ending the story on the idea that heaven is not a place that we reach in death but a place we create in life is poetic and beautiful as well as a truly virtuous philososphy.
