About this listen

When sweet Ada Edwards meets the mysterious Kaison Hughes, lead singer of the biggest band in the world, she can't understand what he sees in her. Despite everyone's warnings about him, she's rapidly falling in love. But it's obvious he has a secret, and he's not all he appears to be.

Kai's life isn't his own, and his fame isn't the half of it. As a member of a secret organization known as the Elioud, descended from the Atlantean daughters of the Pleiades, he's been commissioned with a task: to reintegrate the lost line of Maia into their ranks. It just so happens that Ada is the one they've been looking for. He doesn't know what they intend to do to her, and he doesn't care. All he wants is the prize for a successful mission: one unqualified wish, which he intends to spend on his beloved sister's freedom.

There's just one problem: Kai's falling in love with Ada, too.

A Barista, A Bad Boy and A Blood Curse.

I received this book via a free promo code and this my voluntary review.

Ada Edwards is a 17 year old coffee slinging teen trying to finish school and play matchmaker with her dad and their neighbour when she catches the attention of Kai Hughes, lead singer of rock band sensation Bloodline. What starts as an unbelievable courtship quickly turns into mermaids, magical islands and a deadly manhunt for Ada because she's the last living descendant of Poseidon's 7th daughter.

Kai had his own reasons for luring Ada into the Eliouds clutches but the more he plays Romeo... the more its his own heart that is seduced by the innocent girl whose falling in love with him. Kind souls like her don't exist in his world, and soon he learns that his entrapment might cost Ada her life. Desperate to save both Ada and his sister Esme, he betrays his people and tries to convince both the girls to flee to safety.

I could divulge back story about Atlantis, Rh Negatives and Blood mythology but all you gotta know is Ada's blood is the key to kick off an apocalypse. The fact that both she and Esme ignore Z's protection charms and Kai's sacrifice and go off on a rescue mission means she's TSTL sometimes but there's enough action to keep the story moving.

Narration is a bit shrill on occasion... and personal preference but given the book is told in Dual POV... a male voice for Kai's perspectives would have been better.

A good read for young listeners

Although it did take me quite a while to get into this book by the end I was really enjoying it. It read quite young and I felt that the main character lacked depth. I enjoyed the plot and think it was wrapped up really well in the end.
