About this listen

The first Wilde's book. Go back to where it all began....

Jon Beatty thought he'd found the best man for him until Craig walked out. To add insult to injury, Craig's got a new lover - a woman - and wants Jon to be a different kind of best man...at his wedding.

Reasoning that the only way to get over one man is to get under another, Jon heads out to Wilde's, the night club on Capitol Hill famous for its hot clientele and hotter bartenders. Jon just wants to get drunk and get laid, and bartender Liam Sable is more than willing to help with both.

Their one night stand turns into a rebound fling, but as Jon moves on with Liam, Craig starts having second thoughts about the break-up. His tiresome antics are the least of Jon and Liam's worries, though. The least annoying, and the least dangerous....

A unique and under appreciate voice.

The novel itself is well written and with a good, solid storyline, characters you can easily sympathise with and a bad guy you love to hate. What really made this book stand out for me was the narrator. Mr Andrews added something I’ve never found before, real emotion. The pauses, the stuttering breaths, all those little sounds people make when upset, anxious or eager. I hate sound effects in my audio books but Zack hit that perfect space where emotions felt real without being cringy. I felt cheated when I realise he hasn’t voiced another book in this series, or at all. It’s a real loss of something unique in m/m romance books.

Very Erotic Read !!

Loved this book as I do all of Ms Witt's work although I think this was maybe the most descriptively erotic.
There was a little bit of predictability in the story line in respect of what was happening with Liam. That said it was still a good read.
If I'm honest the narration spoilt it a little bit. Firstly I didn't like the echo-ey sounds associated with John's thoughts. That was possibly me just being a bit weirded out but them at the start and not being able to just take them as a way of identifying 'thoughts' from speech.
For me, what was more of an issue was the way Zack really 'got into' the sex scenes, obviously trying to bring them to life. It would have worked better if there had been 2 guys each playing a role and reading that person's speaking parts'. Having one person talk all breathy and gasping and then the same person answer all breathy and gasping made it more fake to me, rather than more realistic.
That said it didn't spoil the story enough to stop me giving it 5🌟's or highly recommending it. I just think there is room in that area for some improvement.
In summary;
Loved the story
Liked the narration
Highly recommend
Will continue to read any and all books by this author using whichever of her nomdeplu as she chooses to write under.
5🌟 Ms Witt and thank you ❤
