About this listen

1588. When Rafael de Silva’s ship is smashed on the rocks off the coast of Ireland, he must find a way to get by without access to any resources or help from the locals, since being apprehended will result in certain death for a soldier of the ill-fated Spanish Armada. Terrified and half starved, Rafael gets help from an unexpected source, but safety is just an illusion, and love is a liability when Rafael’s very survival depends on keeping the secret of his birth from being discovered by those closest to him.

2015. Called upon to unearth the remains of a brutal crucifixion, Quinn must delve into the aftermath of the Spanish Armada’s fateful defeat, but as she tries to decipher the secret the victim took to his grave, she discovers that there are secrets much closer to home, and that the twin sister she couldn’t wait to be reunited with is not quite what she expected.

Quinns story goes from strength to strength and the echoes from the past take us back to a time that reverberates through today. Yet another fantastic continuation. I will have to wait a while for the next to be written now!

In book 7 of this awsome series Quinn is called to a cruxifiction scene in Ireland. It is horrible and it shakes her hard. She comes away with a small amulet, hiding behind the bodies pelvis. Once she makes contact she learns it belongs to the young Raphael de Silva. A spanish soldier in the Spanish Inquisition and washed ashore on the coast of Ireland after the English have done a number on the Spanish fleet. He and his captain, who is badly wounded, manage to get away from the beach where an angry mob is killing everybody still alive. They manage to find shelter and after a long journey they arrive at a castle where the Lord gives them and another 20 other Spanish soldiers shelter and food as a rebel to Queen Elizabeth.. But Raphael carries a deep secret which would end with his dead if anybody would find out.And when they all find themselves sieged by the English things quickly go out of control. Meanwhile Quinn is doing everything in her power to keep connected to her new found twinsister Jo. But Jo is not what she hoped she would be. Both Gabe and Reese see that although Jo looks a lot like their father, she has their mother's character. It takes a missing baby and another disappearing from Jo that Quinn realises she can be happy with the family she has. Another amazing book in this series and again Wendy Wolfson does an excellent job with many different voices. Loved it.
