Summary

THE PERFECT FAMILY

Sheila O'Rourke has always known her husband isn't perfect. Who is? But things have been better since they moved to Seattle to make a fresh start. So much so that when 16-year-old Eden turns up, claiming to be Dylan's child by another woman, Sheila tries to be welcoming.

CAN BECOME

At first, Sheila feels sympathy for the girl. Eden's mother recently fell to her death in an incident with unsettling parallels to Sheila's past. Still, Eden is a difficult house guest, sowing discord among the family. Sheila has already been on edge for weeks, receiving anonymous texts, noticing odd noises coming from the house next door. And that's just the start.

A PERFECT NIGHTMARE

Sheila wants to trust Dylan. She wants to feel safe in her own home. But no one can hurt you more easily than the ones closest to you...the ones you keep believing until it's too late....

Intense

I enjoyed this book. The story was good and did keep me guessing. The narrator was good at telling the story, sometimes I found the narration too intense.

Fast moving and exciting!

Awesome narrator Ann Marie Lee takes us along at breath taking speed through this intriguing and gossipy thriller, and we meet some nasty characters along the way. Took me a while to work out 'who done it' and there are some very flawed people in here, some of them so warped and self obsessed it was almost funny, but at the same time believable. Hope I never meet any of them!
I couldn't stop listening to this free book and put aside a much more worthy one I'd paid for. I also tried to imagine what it would be like read by a less dramatic narrator. Anne Marie really makes the book! She puts so much expression into the voices of each protagonist, adds excitement, fear, trepidation, doubt, revulsion, delusion and self deception. Loved it and will look for more, particularly read by this narrator.
Oh, by the way, the husband is a plonker!

Gripping

I didn’t want to put it down.Lots of oh **** moments and enough of a puzzle to keep you guessing. Characters and scenarios were well described and realistic.

good but dragged

good and free but I think it would have been great as a 6 hour job instead of dragging out the reveal etc.

The Betrayed Wife

What a shallow self centred fool Dylan was. Excellent story, captured me throughout. I didn’t expect that standard for a free read! Marvellous narration. Highly recommended.

Quite good until the last 2 hours

Firstly the narrator sounded like she was reading a children’s book rather than a thriller, and if it hadn’t been that good I would have given up. The book was good up until the last 2 hours then it started getting silly
