Summary

Gladiator. Assassin. Thief. Princess. And the slave. The five warrior angels have been revealed; one by one, the mystical weapons they once wielded are being found, and an ancient prophecy is finally being fulfilled. Or is it?

For when it comes to recorded history, much is intended to manipulate and deceive.

Returning to the kingdom of Gul Kana, Princess Jondralyn has suffered a devastating loss, discovering that not all prophecy is to be assumed, not all scripture to be trusted. At the same time, her younger sister, Tala, has found faith within herself while facing off against villains, who are using her for their devices.

Hawkwood, the former Bloodwood Assassin, is captured. And the knight, Gault, betrayed by the Angel Prince, can only wonder of the fate of his daughter who has fallen into terrible hands. All while Nail embarks upon the deadliest quest the Five Isles has ever known.

Rip roaring adventure

I'll start with the narration, absolutely tip top from Tim Gerard Reynolds. He keeps everything flowing smoothly, dramatic only where needed and intonation flawless.
Of course, not even the best actor could save a miserable script, but the material from Brian Lee Durfee is spellbinding.
The characters are fantastically endearing, perhaps none more so than the redoubtable Liz Hen and her stolid friend Dokie. The swearing from Liz Hen is right on point, I think she's my new hero 😂 and who in their right mind wouldn't want a furry four legged friend like the fierce and loyal Beermug.
The only downside for me is that the third volume is currently not available in the UK for whatever reason. I admit that volume 1 Forgetting Moon and this one too, were both free with the Audible subscription and it was only something about the book cover picture that made me dismiss it (never judge a book by its cover eh), I would most certainly be willing to pay top whack to get the third book downloaded. I might have to scour alternative options to satisfy my jibbering addiction 😕😁😦😂
I wholeheartedly recommend these books to any and all, many thanks to all involved in bringing this to my ears 👍😁

Nail needs some ass

Nail is always so depressed, Ava shay is less depressed than him, but its a good book, Don't worry Liz Hen gets better

Blackest Heart

I didn't love this story. Can't say I understood it. I didn't love any of the characters. I was dumbfounded by the lack of the human logic in some of the twists and turns in events. It was so very, very, long, on the verge of and wanting to be an epic. It was Tim G R's narration that carried me through (love him). And strangely, I still want to see where the author takes it and how everything gets resolved (or not) in the end.

Infuriating yet interesting

I feel that my first review for this book was unfair. I find this particular series infuriating thanks to the characters. With that being said, the world building and lore are fascinating and well done. I'm still struggling to find a character to root for besides Gault, but there is some development towards the later end of this book. In the end, I don't think this series is really for me, though I will finish it just to see how it all ends in the next book.

Well read. The story is at times frightening but addictive. Quite a great story. I am now looking for the next in the series.
