Taking Back Your Life
I have a stepdaughter that I love dearly that has been through some painful, traumatic experiences in her life at a very early age. She was 7yrs. Old when I met her and her mom and we married 2 yrs. Later. We were divorced 2 years later. Her mom left us and our baby boy for me to raise alone. Fast forward to today. While in the Army Reserves 6 yrs. ago, she was stationed overseas for a year and had a traumatic experience happen to her while stationed over there. Since then, she has struggled to cope with life in general. This book with its Somatic Art Therapy is what I think could help her very much. It is a craftful approach that is put together with all of the aspects of this healing modality and explanation of what Somatic Art Therapy really is and, it’s benefits and practical techniques to use are just what the doctor ordered. It contains real-life examples that are great to listen to and relate to, to convince her that she is not alone on the healing journey. I am going to give a copy to my stepdaughter to try out the great advice and techniques so that she may one day get back her inner happiness and find peace again in mind and body.

Healing Through Art
I have spent the last year diving into somatic therapy techniques to heal unresolved trauma and this book has been essential to my recovery. The exercises for art-based somatic therapy are creative and grounding, and encourage me to engage with my body and to release all the tension I'm holding. For a highly sensitive person like me, it matters that it combines the exploration of arts with practicing specific movements in the body, which makes the whole process more enjoyable. I enjoyed doing the exercises and noticed immediately that they enabled me to deal with the pain and stress in an effective way. I would highly recommend this book to anyone searching for a new and different way to restore their mind-body connection.
