Summary

The week before Christmas, Brighton 1922

When Camille discovers that her estranged husband, Lord Henry (known as Harry) Divine, has given her a boat house in Brighton as part of her divorce settlement, she decides to visit it before the Christmas holidays. She anticipates work needing to be done after a long time away from Brighton's delights. She takes her loyal maid, Cecily, with her, and drives down to Brighton in the new motor car included in the settlement. They make a jolly twosome, Camille and Cecily, both looking forward to a few bracing days by the sea, both knowing it will be jolly cold, but still looking forward to a break away from the increasingly busy streets of London.

Camille describes the boat house to Cecily in glowing terms, remembering the wonderful times she and Henry--along with their daughter Ottilie, then a baby--spent there playing on the beach and drinking hot chocolate before an open fire in the evenings. Cecily is eager to arrive at the seafront house, but when they enter the rather ramshackle yet quaint dwelling, something awaits them that begins a cycle of bloody murder and an unraveling mystery.

The Brighton Murders is the third book in the Camille Divine Murder Mysteries series, a story of intrigue, an unraveling mystery from the past…and murder!

The Camille Divine Mysteries series will appeal to fans of Agatha Christie, Agatha Raisin, Downton Abbey, Father Brown by G. K. Chesterton, and the contemporary series Midsummer Murders.
