Summary
Brought to you by Penguin.
This Penguin Classic is performed by Luke Thompson, best known for his role in the hit Netflix drama Bridgerton. This definitive recording includes an introduction by David McDuff.
The murder of brutal landowner Fyodor Karamazov changes the lives of his sons irrevocably: Mitya, the sensualist, whose bitter rivalry with his father immediately places him under suspicion for parricide; Ivan, the intellectual, driven to breakdown; the spiritual Alyosha, who tries to heal the family's rifts; and the shadowy figure of their bastard half-brother, Smerdyakov. Dostoyevsky's dark masterwork evokes a world where the lines between innocence and corruption, good and evil, blur and everyone's faith in humanity is tested.
Translated with an introduction and notes by David McDuff.

A living performance
The narrator's performance was astonishing, and some scenes are like listening to a theatrical performance - so vivid was each character, The heated exchanges in key scenes were bought to life in such an engaging way. Fascinating novel if you share an interest in theology and philosophy.

Classic
Since I read Crime and Punishment prior to Karamazov Brothers I expected something slightly different but it turned out quite the same as far as the theme goes. Suspense in Crime and Punhsiment in which reader has been held is unparalleled. And that is what makes F.D. one of the greatest writers in history of literature.

A recognised masterpiece from Dostoevsky
Lots of people have written essays on this - the plot line involves a very dysfunctional family , a dissolute gaslighting father - three or four very different sons , Two love triangles , a murder mystery and a court case. Themes of love , jealousy , honour at times and the presence or not of god - what kept me listening was Dostoevsky s language and characterisations .
The narrator here does a very good job of bringing different voices to different characters , which helps in the dialogue sections , but I didn’t always feel I would have added the huffing or questioning elements that were included - perhaps they were evident in the written text .

Great narrator for this fantastic book
I really like the performance of Luke Thompson, very impressive , it is a shame cannot find the crime and punishment read by him ( maybe it exists not sure ) . He just manage to capture so well the emotions of various characters . Very impressive

great performance of a classic
Luke really brings it to life, great characterisation. The story.... some truly moving and thought provoking parts, alongside some overwrought sections, so typical Dostoevsky!

Incredible voice acting adds so much
The best narration - adds so much to the dialogue, brings out meaning and makes it easier to follow. The voices and accents are brilliant! Adds so much to an incredible book. The narrator deserves awards for this!

Best narrated audiobook of all time
Spectacular narration. Really astonished by the amount of individual voices the narrator uses, and how full of life and character each one is. Give him all the awards.
