Summary

The ghost that haunts Canterville Chase has built a marvelous career of midnight haunting. But when an American family moves in, they simply have no respect for permanent bloodstains, nightmarish chains, or ancient legends. They even throw pillows at him.

Classic comedic Oscar Wilde

I was slightly surprised to realise that it was more of a comedy than a ghost story but it still highlights the classic style of Oscar Wilde. Lots of tongue and cheek commentary on aristocracy as well as the ghost genre. The narrator's accent was also interesting - a mix between American and English. A pleasant short story.

A fantastic reading and great story.

B. J. Harrison knocks another performance out of the park. The story itself, almost certainly the basis for films like Beetlejuice and The Frighteners, was superb. Displaying Wilde's wry wit and an ability to poke fun at genre conventions that make the whole thing a joy to listen to.

Poorly read

Mr. Harrison should not be allowed to attempt British accents. He seems convinced he's really good at them but he really is misleading himself. This is a fun, classic Wilde story and shows the writer's innate wit but the voice acting is very distracting and takes away the enjoyment of listening to it.
