Summary

Disillusioned journalist Tom Langdon must get from Washington to L.A. in time for Christmas. Forced to take the train across the country because of a slight 'misunderstanding' at airport security, he begins a journey of self-discovery and rude awakenings, mysterious goings-on and thrilling adventures, screwball escapades and holiday magic.

He has no idea that the locomotives pulling him across America will actually take him into the rugged terrain of his own heart, where he will rediscover people's essential goodness and someone very special he believed he had lost.

In equal parts hilarious, poignant, suspenseful and thrilling, The Christmas Train by David Baldacci is a delightful journey filled with memorable characters who have packed their bags with as much wisdom as mischief....

Brilliant compelling love story on a train

A brilliant love story that starts with loads of misunderstanding and mistrust , it is a brilliant listen as the characters unfold with a few twists here and there, narration was very good and bad me chuckling in places

A bit dull

The storyline is not bad but a bit dull for David Baldacci's normally captivating writing.

Brilliant story, excellent narration - perfect entertainment!

Loved it! As always David Baldacci writes a cracking yarn, which stirs up all the emotions and grips you to the end, and the clever narration just put the star at the top of the tree!

sheer delight!

such a real, unexpected treat. Such a evocative setting and storyline No need for guts or gore Baldacci kept me captive with great charectars and plot twists. superb vocalisation by Matheson who created an equally impressive set of voices & accents made for a journey I am sure to take again.

A bit different but nice

It took a long time to get going, but it was a good story, and it is some times nice to hear something different.

Enchanting

This book is so different from many of Baldacci's other books. No violence, no guns, no brave heroes or sassy heroines. Just full richly drawn characters combined with the romance of transcontinental rail travel. Delicious!
