About this listen
Love is not a game Brick Swift wants to play again.
Heartbreaking memories have a hold on his heart.
The respected sport agent’s clients have become the sole recipients of his time and attention.
January Jordan is at the top of her game, negotiating the year’s biggest contract for her Memphis Maverick client.
Free as a bird, she’s not looking for anyone to fulfill an already satisfying life.
One chance meeting changes life’s direction and ignites a fire that lights the way.
Author's notes: This was previously published as Cards of Love: The World and has no new content.
While this is part of the Swift series, each can be listened to as a stand-alone. Each is about a Swift sibling, but for the best listener experience, listen to them in order.

Joe Arden and Maxine Mitchell continue their narration of this series. Their chemistry oozes straight into this couple, making it impossible for us not to feel it. Arden plays Brick with that wall around his heart and we can feel it melt! January is hesitant, but wiling and Mitchell uses her nuances to make it happen. Love this team when they narrate together. It truly is magic.

Brick is a very successful sports agent and on the outside he has it all together, however inside he’s barely treading water since a tragic accident changed the course of his life forever. He’d resigned himself to the fact he’d loved and lost his one true love and now he’s in his 40’s didn’t expect to feel again until he met Ms January Jordan, a fellow sports agent. A woman who is just as successful as he is and is carrying her own baggage.
January’s life is the perfect balance of good and bad. She has a highly established, successful career in a male dominated field; however, she has given up on love after a failed marriage, that is until she meets Brick at a work function when she travels back home to Memphis for both work and pleasure. The two are drawn to one another and there is a real strong connection, steamy hot chemistry and lots of great witty banter from the outset.
Joe Arden and Maxine Mitchell breath life into Brick and January and as always, they were magnificent. Joe never fails to draw all the emotions out of my icy black heart and had me all up in my feels, he also knows how to step it up a gear in order to play your body and mind in the most delicious ways with his incredible performances and his portrayal of Brick is no exception. Maxine was the perfect choice for January, and she performed the hell out of the sexy, sensual, boss babe who is killing it in a male dominated career. Maxine is an amazing actress and does a phenomenal job of not only bringing the characters she plays to life but also has you feeling everything like you are right there living the story. I love this pairing together, their voice’s complement each other perfectly. You always know a story and its characters are in safe hands.
I loved Brick and January’s story so very much, it was sweet, funny and packed full of emotion and love. So much so that in this short novella I laughed, cried, swooned and fell hard and fast for the hero and heroine, plus it was also lovely to catch up with the Swift family. The epilogue was simply perfect and I’m chomping at the bit to dive into Bristol’s story in The Cannon.

In ‘The Closer’, Brick (who is widowed at the beginning of the book) finally gets a second chance at love. After his first love, Brick has closed himself off to love, and he puts all his focus on his career as a sports agent. However, this all changes when he meets January.
Although, it isn’t necessarily an insta-love story, their attraction and relationship progress pretty quickly. Which I liked in this context, as they both knew what they wanted and went with it. Also, the fact that they’re older characters meant they were very mature in the way they interacted with each other. I just loved their relationship!
As with the first book, the rest of the Swift family make brief appearances. Again, I love the family’s close-knit dynamics, interactions, and the banter.
What I liked the most about this book was how sweet the characters were to each other. I also loved how this book featured 40+ main characters, as this is not usually the most popular age for characters in this genre.
As with the first book, the narration was bomb! Narrated by Joe Arden and Maxine Mitchell, both narrators were fantastic. I felt they provided the audiobook with the perfect emotions and kept me entertained throughout.
Overall, I loved this book and I highly recommend it, especially the audiobook version.
I was provided a free advanced audio copy of this book. However, all opinions shared are my honest thoughts about this book.
I most definitely loved this one!💕💕
