About this listen
Stephen King's epic fantasy series, The Dark Tower, is being made into a major movie starring Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey. Due in cinemas February 17, 2017 USA.
In the fourth powerful novel in Stephen King's best-selling fantasy quest, The Dark Tower beckons Roland, the Last Gunslinger, and the four companions he has gathered along the road.
And, having narrowly escaped one world, they set out on a terrifying journey across the scarred urban wasteland to brave a new world where hidden dangers lie at every junction: a malevolent computer-run monorail hurtling towards self-destruction, Roland's relentlessly cunning old enemy, and the temptation of the wizard's diabolical glass ball, a powerful force in Roland's first love affair. A tale of long-ago love and adventure involving a beautiful and quixotic woman named Susan Delgado.
And the Tower is closer....

They're getting better and better.
I never thought I'd persist with these stories. How they're intertwined stories, overlapping timelines and confusing characters were continuing to grow, I feared I'd just give up on the slow progress each novel advanced. But I hope they continue to inch forward. I love this universe!

As good as it gets.
Sublime absolutely sublime! Well paced, emotional, action packed. That Stephen King fellow, knows how to tell a story.
The revisiting of Rolands youth is a work of art. How Roland has come to bare the scars inside and out goes beyond teenage angst, testing of friendships and first love, with the weight of all world's on his shoulders.
Could happily press replay and start this journey all over again. I actually missed my train stop I was so engrossed.
Slightly annoyed at the narrators awful interpretation of a woman's voice as pantomime at best but aside from that small criticism it does not get much better than this.

My favourite narration to date.
Just the best narration I've heard on audible. Fantastic story and characters. Must listen in my opinion.

Better and better
The Dark Tower Series are Kings magnum opus. A true epic.
One of the greatest joys is the way characters and other items from his other works tie into this series.
Randall Flag, Captain Trips etc as well as the other books such as Talisman, The Black house, The Stand and many more.

Great story telling
If not a little waffly. King goes on the mother of all tangents and leaves the reader wondering what the point of the story is before arking back round to give us incredible insight and understanding of Roland's role in this story.

These books
I read the first three books many many years ago and I inly just realised that I had to wait 26 years for this. I knew it was a long time but not how long it was until now. I am listening to them now and it’s wonderful to know that I will have them all do in the next couple of months maybe less as the first read I couldn’t be sure of my memory even though I reread them a lot loving living this tale again!

simply gripping from start to finish.
I couldn't stop listening from start to finish. the character development is great with the back story both fitting well but not losing the ability for throwing the odd curve ball...
I can't say more than I now have to buy the next book
