Very enjoyable. Great plot twists

I very much enjoyed The Director's Cut. It is not my usual genre of book, but a friend recommended me it. At the start of the book, it took some getting used to jumping in and out of characters background stories. Once I knew who everybody was, the plot twists came. I do not know what I was expecting, but I was gripped. The scene setting and dialects of the character made it easy for my imagination to mentally visualize the people and places of the gangs and orders. The careful execution of the empathetic parts made for an emotional time in the story, helped by the sensitivity in the narrator's tone. I found myself routine for justice and sort of satisfied when it came, albeit by sinister means.
Favourite bits. George's way of dealing with Dominic was very concise. Again, the narrator's vocal skill added to the atmosphere and helped set the scene. The horrendous imagines that were being conjured up in the mind and George’s calming voice added to the event with suspense and creepiness. You knew how it was going to end for Dominic, but wanted to know George's process. My other favourite bits were the interaction between George and Tommy. Such a believable and honest relationship. Lastly Hightop getting his comeuppance and justly deserved.
I am glad I got my head around the background stories of each character at the beginning of The Director's Cut, as it all fell into place by the end.

Directors Cut.

This debut novel by Lucas Tobin is superb. The story is fast paced with a few twists and turns along the way, the characters are well defined and likeable mostly, the bad guys are easy to dislike. The main character is a funeral director and there are a few graphic scenes in the story that are definitely not for the squeamish, I thought the whole thing however was well balanced and look forward to listening to more of Mr Tobins work in the future. Martin Lovell's narration was very good, he kept the whole thing moving along apace and some of his accents were quite amusing. Well worth it's 5 stars.
I was kindly given a copy of the book by the author and leave this honest review voluntarily.

Nicely surprised

Though the story started of a bit slow, I really enjoyed it and how it ended, without spoiling it for other readers or listeners as was my case, the story was good as was the voice acting by the narrator.

Enjoyed

I enjoyed the narration of Martin Lovell

Loved the insight into the back rooms of the Funeral industry and just how much they could get away with.
We have revenge, murder. Great characters, some you will love and others not so much.
