About this listen

Dear Holden, I'm not going to college a virgin. I want to learn everything and I want you to teach me.

I have to ask: Will you be my first?

Yes, there are risks. I'm your best friend's kid sister. As off limits as it gets.

But forbidden fruit is always the sweetest.

And I'll do anything for a taste.

-Daisy

The First Taste is a stand-alone brother's best friend romance with a trouble making tattoo artist hero, an inexperienced book worm heroine, and enough heat to melt your ears.

*DANGER IS SWEET*

I recieved this book for Free to Give My True & Honest Review in Kindle form but I also brought it in Audio, as I find that the Narrators Kai Kennicott & Wen Ross narrates the story really well whilst I also read the text.

What a beautiful DEEP coming together.
Here we see that it's Oliver & Forrest's younger sister in this episode & we hear about her past evils from the previous year & it's the summer of her 18th birthday & the weeks prior to College.
And what she REALLY WANTS for her birthday present is to have Oliver's best friend Holden to be THE one to let her release herself before she leaves her life as she knows it behind.

But we see things don't really go the way either of them expects & predicts things go as they didn't expects for their feelings to change.....

Another Great Emotional HEA by the awesome Crystal Kaswell 💕

Fantastic story and narration!

Crystal Kaswell had me at the first chapter! This book is so good, I listened straight through, and could not stop. Daisy just graduated high school and is getting ready for college. Daisy, her brother Oliver, best friend Luna and Oliver's best friend Holden all accompany her on a birthday trip to Mexico. Each knows her crush on Holden, but there is that fine line between friends and lovers, especially when your brother is involved. But things are really never that easy and lines are crossed. And it's glorious!!! Now what do I love about this story? I love the couple. Daisy is a refreshing character. She has relevant issues, and has been dealing with them with the support of her family. It's not easy, nor does she pretend to be perfect and I love that! Holden too has baggage, but when it comes to Daisy, he is so attentive, I was melting! The supporting cast is amazing. Oliver and Luna are there for the duration, the good and the bad, and it's a strength that is felt throughout the story. And lastly, the compassion that Crystal Kaswell gives to Daisy is incredible. Her take on the situation is realistic and needs to be addressed and I love that she has come forth and given it a voice. It's a beautiful love story!

Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross are storytellers. Their chemistry is felt through the story, and I love that they meld together so well. Kennicott has the task of taking on the emotions of Daisy and she includes us in each one. Ross gives Holden that arrogance, yet brings out his soft side. I love these two and know as soon as I hear them, I have that comforting feeling of coming home to hear a good story! Loved their performance!

Great narration, good new adult romance

This was a sweet new adult romance following Daisy, a just turned 18 year old and her brother’s best friend Holden. She has had a crush on Holden for a while and they are all celebrating her birthday when she finally has an opportunity to make her dreams come true temporarily. But can they really say good bye?

Daisy deals with some difficult issues such as a prior bout with an eating disorder. It was a well written thoughtful representation of a woman just coming to her own but still dealing with perceived weaknesses that colors her thoughts of her future. Holden also had to deal with some issues and perceptions especially as he was concerned about the potential impact of a relationship with Daisy on his and her relationship with her brother (and his best friend). So overall this story was written framing issues that were realistic for this young couple and done in an entertaining way.

I requested and received the audiobook, which is narrated by Wen Ross and Kai Kennicott. This book was done as a duet and it was perfectly done. I really enjoyed the narration which elevated the story.

Real life issues

I love how this author captures the real life issues going on in young women’s lives daily. The emotion is real and has been captured in the words so very well. Absolutely fantastic performance from both Kai and Wen.

Inked Love New Adult

I really struggled getting through this one. After thinking about it for a while, I've determined that there is nothing wrong with the story at all. The issue is me. New adult just isn't my thing. The age of the characters and the immature conversation style does not appeal to me. That is simply my preference. I did appreciate the way they dealt with a young woman dealing with recovery of an eating disorder. It was absolutely handled with respect for her and did not make her seem weak for having this struggle. Narration by Kai Kennicot and Wen Ross fantastic as always so absolutely no issues there. I gave 4 stars based on the fact that there is a lot of good here, interesting nuanced characters, good premise for the story and what seemed like realistic communication between the main characters and their friends/family. For those that enjoy new adult romance look no farther for a good story that deals with real issues without being depressing or dark.

Brothers best friend

What a wonderful book!!! It is a bit long but it held my attention the entire time. My favorite part of a book is dialog and there is a ton in this book. I can’t wait to dig more into Crystal Kaswell’s books. As always Wen and Kia are amazing! They bring the life out of the characters they play. HEA. I definitely recommend this book!!

Not my taste

I don't like giving negative reviews when I think it was my fault for not liking the book, but I'll state my reasons and hopefully someone with the similar taste can find helpful.

There is a LOT of angst in this story, so much so that I wasn't prepared for it. I'm not much of fan of angst stories, specially with teenagers (the h is 18). The H is a bad boy, kind of a manwh*re, like to fool around and treat women badly. But he feels different about the h, he wants to protect her from guys like him and are overly possessive *sighs* See, there is nothing wrong with it, but it's not my jam, I really dislike this cliché that so many people love. I can't suspend my disbelief enough to enjoy the story.

Another thing that gut*ed me was the whole mystery surrounding the h. It was a issue that I could relate, but the hype around it was so high that when was revealed, was anti-climatic.

The narration was top notch. I really love their narration, specially because it's a duet (He does all male voices and She does all female voices).
