not my favourite
Maybe i was out of sorts but it wasn't my favourite story from AMS. Andthis is surprising for me given the storyline of family mysteries!
I also think, being an aussie, it was the narrators Australian/New Zealand/ South African mixed accent that unnerved me? Its a tough gig doing accents so no disrespect, but i think that was a struggle for me.

Brilliant, didn't want it too finish.
I felt I had known Isobel Dalhousie all my life, I would have liked another few chapters to tidy up the loose ends.

The forgotten affairs of youth
I liked the narrator. Being Scottish from Edinburgh I enjoyed the readers voice and the places mentioned I know
The Isabel Dalhousie stories are quite predictable but I enjoy them just the same On a lighthearted note Gullane to
Me is pronounced GUllane as in the bird gull not Gillane ! 😩

A quiet delight
I love this series - such a shame some are only in abridged format. But a wonderfully reflective tale.

Not my favourite out of the series
Unfortunately I didn’t warm to the narrator at all I feel she didn’t capture the characters at all , I’m not sure it’s a good idea to change the narrator half way through a book series . This was my least favourite

Wrong voice
I bought this not realising the narrator was different from the previous stories and I am afraid the change made it un-listenable for me! Can't finish it, yet loved all the others.

Wonderful book: Rubbish narrator
I am afraid that this was a HUGE disappointment for me.
Up til now he whole series of Isabel Dalhousie books, along with the other Ian McCall Smith books has been a delight. Here we have a different narrator, and to be honest the experience of listening to her is dispiriting. Such a pity after the very good reading of the other works by Phyllis Logan and Hilary Melville.
PLEASE don;t get this narrator to read any more of these lovely books. She ruins them.
And for audible listeners: if you have enjoyed the rest of the series: DON'T get this.
I wonder: Are Audible considering doing a new version? Would be good.
