Please do away with foreign accents NOW
These books are excellent, of course, it’s Orwell. But a few minutes into ’Burmese days’ I had to stop. The ugly habit of English speaking narrators (some) to read dialogue between, say, Burmese people, supposedly speaking their native language, with heavy accents, is tiresome and ludicrous. Would these actors perform an entire play by Chechov in thick russian accented English? ’A hundred years if solitude’ by Garcia Marquez with all characters slurring away in English with Spanish accents? Of course not. It’s translated language and should be read out as such. It’s old fashioned and verges on racism. This has destroyed many good books for me. It has to end. Apart from this, the narrators are brilliant.

Excellent narration, captivating story
A captivating glimpse into another society that may be rather like today's North Korea or China. There does seem to be a few sections of narration missing, albeit a few words where censorship may have been deployed. Unfortunate to use 1984 tactics. Otherwise, an intreaguing journey through a different society.

wonderful narrations of some truly great works
So many great essays and lesser known gems here, as well as his best known classics. The narrations are excellent, well matched to the content. Jonathan Oliver is great, but they all are really.

Great Value
For this with a token from my subscription and I have to say that’s crazy value for 9 books plus extras. I had already read 6 of these books when I bought the collection so haven’t listened to all of these but love what I have listened to. Great performance and obviously great writing, Orwell never fails to make me think!

Best credit you can spend
To put it plainly, this is the first time I’ve made the effort to write a full review. Because I wanted to encourage others to listen.
Don’t hesitate to take on this very long collection of Orwell. He is as relevant today as the works were intended to be then.
