Summary
The sixth in the Millennium series featuring The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo - more than 100 million copies sold worldwide.
"What are you going to do now?"
"I will be the hunter and not the hunted."
Lisbeth Salander's mentor and protector Holger Palmgren is dead, and she has been gone from Stockholm since his funeral. All summer, Mikael Blomkvist has been plagued by the fear that Salander's enemies will come after her.
He should, perhaps, be more concerned for himself.
In the pocket of an unidentified homeless man, who died with the name of a Swedish government minister on his lips, the police find a list of telephone numbers. Among them, the contact for Millennium magazine and the investigative journalist Mikael Blomkvist. Following the scorched trail of her twin sister Camilla to Moscow, Salander nevertheless continues to watch over her old friend. Soon Blomkvist will need her help. But first, she has an old score to settle; and fresh outrage to avenge.
The next episode in David Lagercrantz's acclaimed continuation of Stieg Larsson's Dragon Tattoo series is a thrilling ride that scales the heights of Everest and plunges the depths of Russia's criminal underworld. In a climax of shattering violence, Lisbeth Salander will face her nemesis.
For the girl with the dragon tattoo, the personal is always political - and ultimately deadly.
Translated from the Swedish by George Goulding
Critic reviews
"A murder mystery inside an espionage conspiracy wrapped in an action thriller-a unique concoction that should leave Salander's legion of followers clamoring for more." (Tom Nolan)
"Salander and Blomkvist are just as compelling as ever." (Michiko Kakutani, New York Times)
"Not only do the matter-of-fact style and intricate plotting and sexy, chilling atmosphere feel very true to the original novels, but Lagercrantz transcends the source material." (Benjamin Percy, Esquire)

Liked it!
Not as good as the last one, but I'm happy with it. Is this the end of Lisbeth or will there be another one?

not as good as Stig
It took me some time to get into the book. The performance is good, but the story dragged a bit.

Not impressed
I bout the audiobook as I’m a fan of the Millennium trilogy, but this instalment disappointed me a little. The story didn’t really move me, and the narrator’s performance was quite poor.

slow start but great ending
Once you've got to grip with names, the various sub plots, it was a good read and well narrated.

worth a listen for sure
The story was on the whole good. I felt that the book started well. The last in the series, possibly? it does fit in with the previous encounters. it has to be said that the change of Author in these last 3 books is definitely less detailed and all 3 books seem rushed at the end, this one is no exception. Perhaps some of the details were not followed through? I may have awarded 5 stars otherwise. The narrator was again excellent and I have been impressed through the series. Don't take a few bad reviews that favour not to listen to it. Give it a go, I think you will find it enjoyable. If you don't then you can always return it and you've not lost anything except a little time and some excellent Swedish place name prenounciations!

Hard to follow at timed
I wish I had bought the printed version. This is very hard to follow. Sometimes scenes and characters change and I haven't realised it. I must have listened to chapter 3 five or six times.
As other reviewers have commented this is not a patch on the originals. I gave up after an hour and won't be vack.

A great read / listen
I think some of the other reviews are way too harsh. I really enjoyed the book and found it to be an engaging, action- packed conclusion to Salander’s story. There are lots of strands to the story that are woven together well. The end is a little far fetched but riveting. I think the author has done an excellent job of not only continuing the millennium series but providing a fitting ending. It’s the kind of book that it’s not worth dissecting the details and being overly critical it’s best to just sit back, immerse yourself in Lisbeth’s world and enjoy it.
