About this listen

A fresh and compelling WW2 romance audiobook from an exciting new voice in Historical Fiction about a woman escaping Nazi-occupied Norway and finding safety in the Shetland Islands.

1942. When Helda Dahlstrøm flees her abusive husband and Nazi-occupied Norway with her eight-year-old son she doesn't know if they'll make it out alive. In her desperate journey to safety she'll find safety on the rocky shores of the Shetland Islands, rescued by Canadian Flight Sergeant Bill Gauthier.

As WWII's destruction rages at their doorsteps, can love find its way through the rubble?

I thoroughly enjoyed this audio book. Great story and fantastic narration. It was so sensitively written, I really felt for the main characters, particularly Hedda and Erik. Listen to it over three evenings and was really sorry for it to end. Will definitely look for more from this author.

Fabulous book which had me hooked from the very start. Beautifully written from both characters perspectives, Hedde and Bill. The narrators brought them to life. I loved the authors way of describing their surroundings and emotions. I didn’t want the book to finish. This is more than a historical romance, this is heartfelt storytelling.
