Summary

Keeping on top of the family funeral directors' and private-investigation businesses is no easy task for the Skelf women, and when matriarch Dorothy discovers a human foot while walking the dog, a perplexing case presents itself....

Daughter Jenny and granddaughter Hannah have their hands full, too: the mysterious circumstances of a dying woman lead them into an unexpected family drama, Hannah's new astrophysicist colleague claims he's receiving messages from outer space, and the Skelfs' teenaged lodger has yet another devastating experience. Nothing is clear as the women are immersed ever deeper in their most challenging cases yet. When the daughter of Jenny's violent and fugitive ex-husband goes missing without trace, real danger presents itself, and all three Skelfs are in peril.

Another great plot of the Skelfs.

With various sub plots going on, there is always something going happening with this family. I mean, you would expect it from a family involved in the business of undertaking AND private investigation work. All in the foreground of Edinburgh and the surrounding areas. As a local I like the use of such iconic surroundings. Great wok Doug and a shout out to the narrator Sarah for having to deal with the variety of accents.

I didn't want it to end...

A wonderfully enjoyable, thought provoking sequel. I feel deeply involved with the Skelf family and their extended household and relationships. So many strands to the story, but it all weaves together beautifully and having just finished listening, I feel deeply sated. Brilliant story telling and narration. I just wish there were others in the series ready to listen to immediately.

Top notch

This was a great 3rd book in the Skelf series, so many intertwining stories. I worthy successor to the others which continued to fill out the characters history and background. I would love to read more about them!

A bit far fetched

This book is very far fetched. The previous two in this series were too , but not this far.I cannot see why there needs to be constant references to the sex lives of the women involved., and ,for that matter, all the other characters too. Nor why none of them have a straightforward relationship. It is just a bit ridiculous. The story line is also ridiculous. I have nearly finished but I won't be wasting my money on any more.
