This story was hard work. Longed out could have been wrapped up a lot sooner, started out really engaging me and in the end I got bored and skipped to the end, hoping some better books by this author

What stood out was the awful children and the voice the narrator put on for them. It’s slightly confusing at times, but to be fair I didn’t always pay close attention. Maisie character went from weak to strong to broken and it was hard to imagine someone so naive, and perhaps not too bright. The other main character seemed to be undecided if she was an outright uncaring badass or yummy mummy. Not a great read for those mummies, and daddies who have gap year trips coming up.

Needs better editing. Various mistakes, including wrong words and grammar errors (“as I lay here dying”). The plot is ok. The characters are a bit underdeveloped.
