About this listen

Liverpool, 1985: Kathleen, Adam and Jocelyn are three teenage friends who bond over an unconventional nativity play. They all have ambitions; they all have dreams. Adam wants to be a writer, Jocelyn wants to sing and Kathleen - well, she wants to be an embalmer.

London, 2015: Kathleen is a borderline alcoholic, Adam is holding on to a shocking secret and Jocelyn is dead. How did having the world at their feet turn into having the weight of it on their shoulders?

I love Jonathan Harvey’s novels - my perfect holiday listening. As usual great story and characters. Some of the Scouse accents were bloody awful! Given that Liverpool is such a big part of this story, could you not have found some authentic Scouse narrators? Please choose better next time.

As always a great story but let down by non-native Scouse narration

It took me a while to get into this book and I found I had to listen to the beginning several times, but it was worth it. Was it "Great literature " ...no, was it great escapism...definitely!
