Summary

TLC's Counting On breakout stars Jeremy and Jinger Vuolo share their love story, a behind-the-scenes glimpse into their lives together, and the hope that drives them every day.

Jinger Vuolo did not have what you'd call a typical childhood. The sixth child of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar's 19, she grew up with the bright lights of television crews in her home, filming the hit TLC show 19 Kids and Counting. Jinger has always been a fan favorite, and now she and her husband Jeremy are the breakout stars of the show's sequel, Counting On.

In The Hope We Hold, Jeremy and Jinger Vuolo share the highs and lows of their love story. They open up about the early days of getting to know one another, their long-distance relationship, and the many sleepless nights of their time as new parents. But throughout all their stories, just below the surface, weaving together every triumph and trial of their lives, is the silver thread of hope.

Though they don't pretend to have all the answers, they can promise that there is hope in Christ for every person in every walk of life. There is an inheritance of glory, a life richer than we can imagine, if we only walk with him.

A good read

After watching the show for years it is good to have a inside perspective on what the tv showed.

Honest and open

I have been aware of Jinger's story and what TV has chosen to show us of her life with Jeremy. This account of their journeys is both honest and gentle. They use their individual and joint life adventures and back ground to point to Christ, their Saviour. It was obvious to me that Jeremy's theological background was very different to Jinger's father, Jim Bob, but I was unaware of what a potential hurdle it had been. It was encouraging to me how much Jinger desired to understand where her husband's theology came from and to wrestle with the challenges she faced looking at the same texts from a different, and possibly liberating and less rigid perspective. However, at no point did they lose sight or respect for her parents or upbringing. I enjoyed this book, but if you are expecting a theological exposition of Hope, it is not here. What is here is an honest, open, respectful and Christ centred reflection of their respective and married lives to date, and how Hope keeps them going.

The Hope we hold, a gentle journey

I wasn’t sure what to expect from the Vuolos, I’ve followed them for sometime - as well as Jingers family, but this is the first time I’ve really listened to a testimony of finding faith.
It’s a gently written book, explaining their way to each other as well as to their current life within Grace Church.
As a longtime agnostic I was really taken with the ease in which they describe their path to faith. I can see why Jeremy is doing his training.
Thank you for sharing the light and dark of the past few years, I might even look out a bible as read a while

Beautiful story with a few surprises

I have just finished this book. I was overwhelmed by the honesty in it. I know the story of this family but not obviously everything. Jeremy and Jinger were very open and honest. I smiled a lot I cried a lot, I thoroughly enjoyed it. It is a book to listen to many times purely for pleasure. I hope it reaches many hearts and opens them to the joy the Vuolos have.
Narrated by themselves makes it even more special. Highly recommend this book.

Comfort in a time of great stress.

This book is amazing. I struggle daily with much pain.
I had come so close to death 5 years ago, I still struggle daily with mental and physical pain.
The day of my expected death, I didn’t cry or say “Why Me”. I prayed and said I was ok, if God decided it was my time, I gave my life to God.
This book gives many examples of the power of faith, my writing this review is an example of the lords power over certain death.
At the time I weighed about 300 pounds, had almost no physical exercise and took over 25 types of medicine per day. My ex husband no longer wanted me as a wife and restricted everything I did. I was told I would die, no hope at all.
By giving my life to the lord and being at peace with my certain death I went to sleep, certain that I would not wake again.
My health improved overnight. That was 32 days from septic shock diagnosis. Within another 8 days I recovered so well I was discharged. The Doctors had never seen such a fast recovery.
This book tells us about the power of faith.
I apologies for a lengthy review, I just needed to show how helpful this book is in times of mental and physical pain.
Thank you for sharing your hope.

Pleasant light read, lacks depth

Pleasant, light reading. Underwhelming storyline in parts. Lacked depth overall. No detail was given on the differences in theology yet so much time was spent describing this issue - frustrating that the reader wasn't let in on what the heart of this issue was. Not a lot of new insights or information, felt like the couple was holding back a lot. Enjoyed the audible performance.
