About this listen
Two strangers, one house, and a secret to be revealed.
Artist Abigail Carey has always dreamed of a life in the country and, when Winfield Hall comes up at auction, she's desperate to make the place her home. The only trouble is that businessman Edward Townsend has exactly the same idea.
With its position high on the Sussex Downs, Winfield is a stunning house, but it hasn't been a home for a long time and there's a lot of work to do to restore it to its former glory. It's going to take a lot of time and money, so Edward and Abi decide to take a risk and share the house, each living in their own wing.
But can these two strangers agree on a vision that suits them both? And will free-spirited Abi ever get the rather reserved Edward to reveal the secret he's been hiding for so long?
The House in the Clouds is the first audiobook in a brand-new trilogy from the bestselling author of The Rose Girls and The Book Lovers series.

Life!
Nice characters. Very lifelike, family stuff... I liked the narration? Heard it over 1 day decorating!

three stars
this would have been four stars or above for me but the ending was abrupt and somehow seemed unfinished

Nice story...
...but I agree with other reviewers about the ending; it feels a bit as though the author suddenly realised she could get another whole book out of it if she stopped where she was.
Narration is fine, though, Emma Powell always does a good, sympathetic reading.

Very abrupt ending thought I had some missing
The story just stopped. I double checked and couldn’t find any more, felt like half a book. Wouldn’t bother with the rest of the trilogy

Good book
Was really enjoying the book but ended very abruptly. Now I’m going to have to sleep if there’s a fool on and buy that.
