Wonderful old fashioned story
Wonderful storytelling, beautifully read. Debbie Ocean (and gang) meets Upstairs Downstairs. Look forward to the film!

Kept me engrossed, loved the story and the performance was very good . Definitely worth a listen to, it will draw you in to the world of Mrs King.

Wow
Wow. Just wow.
I utterly adored this book! I wanted to race through it and savour it slowly in equal measure. It gave me that elusive feeling, the one that only comes around now and again, where you quite literally fall in love with the world and characters in the novel.
It was all so brilliantly brought to life by the narrator, I didn’t want it to end.

Performance annoying
There’s no point in bitching about someone s voice because you can hear before you buy but when the reader pronounces Berkeley Square as if it were in California and knows so little about the period she is reading about that she pronounces 2d (tuppence) as two dee I feel aggrieved.

Northwest listener
This book was difficult to listen to. On many occasions it kept returning to the beginning, all the way through it restarted in the wrong place. The story was ok, but I felt I lost the threads all the way through due to the above comments.

convoluted plot & unlikeable characters
I wanted to like this, as the reviews were positive, but I found it hard work. It is well written, with well formed characters, but none of the characters are particularly likeable! the heist itself strains all disbelief. I dropped it with 6 hours to go.
