About this listen
"OTW baby!"
That was the final text Beau was able to send to his wife before everything went dark. Now, he had to keep his promise and find a way to travel the 30 miles home through some of the worst neighborhoods in Charlotte, battling gangs, the heat, and an entire city trying to keep their own promises.
Beau will use his skills, resources, and anyone he needs to in order to fight his way home, one exit at a time.
Exit 41 is the first in a new series from R.A.Bratyanski, the author of the Mouths to Feed series.

Unsettling and realistic... A fantastic read!
Fantastic audiobook that highlights the importance of being prepared... After all, failing to prepare is preparing to fail.
This story follows a man and a woman travelling after an EMP goes off, knocking out electronics
Narration was fantastic and I enjoyed listening to Jamie Cutler. I'm looking forward to not only hearing more of this story, but also more from the narrator himself.
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review

Nobody is coming.
Beau Jackson was at work when the EMP turned off the power in Charlotte, North Carolina. Raised by prepper parents, he realized what had happened and was mostly prepared, unlike any of his work colleagues, Ignoring them as they waited for power to be restored, he unpacked the survival gear stored in his now dead car, cursing himself for failing to protect his electricals, loaded everything onto one of the firm's fork lift trucks and set out to travel the 26 mile journey home to his wife. The book is a gritty account of the first twenty four hours of his journey, coupled with an occasional background profile of his wife, Trudy, and her two coworkers at the veterinary surgery. It is powerfully written, giving both prepper advice and showing the worst and, sometimes, the unexpected best of human responses to the rapidly declining situation.
At times a very uncomfortable read, R.A.Bratyanski's book quickly draws in and holds the reader's attention and it is a shock when the book suddenly ends, Beau's journey far from completed, to be continued in the next, Exit 40, which, presumably, will cover the next 24 hours. It is because of this sudden conclusion of the book that the rating is only four stars. The narration by Jamie Cutler is good, told in a dispassionate way, like the book itself, which creates an almost documentary feeling. A steady reading, devoid of emotional outbursts, even in dramatic situations, this performance is very convincing.
My thanks to the rights holder of The 1 - 85 Chronicles: Exit 41, who, at my request, freely gifted me with a complimentary copy, via Audiobook Boom. It is a frightening account of a possible breakdown of society, with prepper advice, and recommended. But reader beware, this is only the beginning of a serial story of unknown length and you will want to continue the journey homewards with Beau.
