About this listen
The key to getting kids to understand science isn't to dumb it down...it's to make it fun and relatable. Read on to discover the secret.
Science - and chemistry in particular - is the key to understanding the world, and it’s every bit as important as learning to read and balance numbers. Can your kids honestly say that they enjoy science lessons? The chances are, science lessons aren’t their favorite part of school life. So how can you engage your kids and help them understand the world better? The answer is simple: by making it fun.
The Joy of Chemistry explains the fundamental building blocks of all the sciences to your kids in a truly relatable and engaging way. They’ll discover:
- How particles are like people - and how understanding their characteristics, goals, and relationships is the key to understanding the world
- Vivid, relatable analogies that kids will get the first time around
- The logic behind the periodic table of elements (and how it helps you to understand it)
- The fascinating movement and behavior patterns of particles - and how they affect the world
- The ‘royalty of elements’ - because if there’s one thing that kids understand, it’s how hierarchies work
- Essential lab room safety explained and demystified
- Key terminology defined and explained in kid-friendly language (without dumbing down)
- Bonus knowledge-check section at the end of every chapter to consolidate your child’s understanding
- And much more.

There was no need for me to worry at all!
It was a lot of fun, and the kids learned a lot. The job of teaching kids science is hard enough, let alone getting them to enjoy it!
Their love for it and the knowledge they gained from it bridged the gap between the two—an excellent book. A benefit of it is that I can put it on for them again—both win.
Excellent value.
It is a great audiobook aimed at explaining and entertainingly learning chemistry. The book makes it easy for children to grasp chemistry's basics.
It is a keeper! I may love Chemistry after this!

This book is really well thought out and the way it's presented is very appealing to children.
The author has presented the basics of chemistry, talking about the particles as if they are people and then charting their behaviours.
My favourite chapter was, what is the ultimate goal of 3ach itom? really interesting.
Brilliant book every school child should listen to.
