About this listen

Death was merciful to Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, for it spared her a parent's worst nightmare: the loss of a child. But if Jackie had lived to see her son, JFK Jr., perish in a plane crash on his way to his cousin's wedding, she would have been doubly horrified by the familiar pattern in the tragedy. Once again, on a day that should have been full of joy and celebration, America's first family was struck by the Kennedy Curse.

In this probing expose, renowned Kennedy biographer Edward Klein - a best-selling author and journalist personally acquainted with many members of the Kennedy family - unravels one of the great mysteries of our time and explains why the Kennedys have been subjected to such a mind-boggling chain of calamities. Drawing upon scores of interviews with people who have never spoken out before, troves of private documents, archives in Ireland and America, and private conversations with Jackie, Klein explores the underlying pattern that governs the Kennedy Curse. The listener is treated to seven profiles demonstrating the basic premise of this book: The Kennedy Curse is the result of the destructive collision between the Kennedy's fantasy of omnipotence - an unremitting desire to get away with things that others cannot - and the cold, hard realities of life.

I found this book really interesting, looking at different generations on Kennedys and the risks they took in life. Not sure if I believe in a curse more like a group of people with too much money who thought they were above the law and took so many chances, it was bound to happen. Really interesting read.

I’ve read quite a lot of books on the Kennedy. Some of them brilliant, others awful. This sits comfortably in the middle. It’s quite a short, light read compared to others but interesting enough. I do like the deeper information on John Kennedy Jr but find it skipped over the murder of Bobby quite quickly. I think this is a brilliant entry book onto the subject of the Kennedy family as most tomes are very long and quite often so in-depth it’s off putting. Far too much of the book talks about the establishment of the family in Ireland - something I personally don’t find interesting. Overall a nice listen.

Light but interesting

For those who are new to the Kennedy saga this account is quite comprehensive and detailed. It clarifies and throws light into lots of their dark corners. Definitely worth a listen.

Enjoyed listening to life with the Kennedy family. Easy to follow and informative, sad so many died.

Interesting listen.

The pronunciation of names and when directly quoting jack- que-lin! in a silly effeminate voice was downright cringeworthy. But if you can get past that, the story itself is ok.

The narration was not very good

I'm not sure I believe half of what's in this book. To quote conversations that happened in another century is hard to believe. The way the Irish are depicted and portrayed in the early stages of this book is very disturbing and insulting. I wonder what things were like before the famine!. Narration was poor and dreadful imitation accents.
