About this listen

The utterly gripping psychological thriller from the author of the NUMBER ONE bestseller The Wives, Valerie Keogh.

Since that fateful night I have always kept myself to myself. Reserved. Private. Alone.

Some people think I am too quiet. That life is passing me by. But I know there is safety in my own company. That no one can hurt me if I don’t let them get too close.

Until the day I meet him. A handsome, charming stranger. A chance for me to take a risk…finally?

Or a man who threatens everything I’ve worked so hard for?

You’ll be sorry…

And that’s when my whole life begins to fall apart….

Perfect for fans of Frieda McFadden, J.A. Baker and Sue Watson

Critic reviews

"A wonderful book, I can’t rate this one highly enough. If only there were ten stars, it’s that good." (Anita Waller)

Another gripping story, so very well narrated . This is the third one I’ve listened to

Excellent

Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.

A bit predictable. I guessed the general gist of the story well before the end. No real substance to it. Not one of her best, just OK.

Predictable

It did get better cheaper 20 but took a long time to get going ! Not my favourite read

Slow

Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.

Loved it...I couldn't stop listening. Twists and turns to the end. ...Beautifully read by Rose Robinson.

Gripping!

I really enjoyed this, it kept me completely gripped and was quite creepy at first. I shall look out for more by this author, brilliant.

So Good

Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.

Having read other books by Valerie Keogh, I couldn’t wait to get into this.
I felt it took a very long time to get going which was uncharacteristic of her books.
I only continued because I knew it would be worth it.
It wasn’t my favourite of her books but I was gripped in the end.

A little slow to get going but worth it

Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.

A compelling story, full of twists until the very end. I very much enjoy Valerie's writing style, and her plots and characters. Highly recommended. Excellent narrator.

Compelling mystery

Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.

Chapter 17, I’m giving up on this audiobook, which I very rarely do. The pace is slow. The plot is awful. It’s one of the worst books I’ve read/listened to this year.

The narration is good, but unfortunately doesn’t redeem a truly dreadful book.

Awful

Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.

Long, boring, too overly detailed to elongate the length of novel and pleased when it had finished

Waste of time

Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.

A reasonable story in itself with good narration however there was too much emphasis on little side subjects and descriptions (not all accurate) of everyday items.

Reasonable story but too drawn out for me

Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.
