What did you like most about The Life I Left Behind?

It is well written, and you do get into the head of the main charecter

When she realises that she has been lied to

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I got a bit bored at times, so many of these so called psychological thrillers lapse into chick lit, all about emotions, feelings, relationships. Whatever happened to actions?

The whole ghost thing didn't work for me.

This one is difficult to review for me..there were elements that i loved (the different perspectives where I felt like I was listening to three different people, some of the detail of thoughts of the characters) and bits i didn't enjoy and found annoying (one of the characters i found very difficult to associate with, some of the story is pretty unlikely, some detail on particular elements is given which isn't necessary and makes the story loose momentum and even stall). Sadly i think the narrator gets a few points and intonations wrong making one of the characters more pathetic than is necessary and somewhat frustrating to listen to. Some of the different voices are also pretty off for me...but that could be opinion.

What did you like most about The Life I Left Behind?

I think I enjoyed this book more for listening to it through audible - the voices that the narrators allotted to each character were exactly how I would have expected. The concept is a great story, especially the telling of her own story and death by Eve.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Eve was definitely my favourite character as I loved her fiesty nature. Her determination to get to the truth made the character in my mind more steely and focussed and I really didn't want her to succumb to the killer.

I enjoyed this book so much. So many different twists and the ending, the biggest twist!

I don't think so as I realised who the perpetrator was from practically the beginning.

What about Imogen Church’s performance did you like?

Not a lot! Her male voices made all the men seem ridiculous and her pronunciation ("garridge", "guard-den" and "wander" for "wonder") really irritated.

Slow start. Bit too much self analysis central character but enjoyed it. Became engrossed in it. Unusual. After all the early preamble, felt it ended abruptly with little follow through.

Really great story. The author manages to use a postmortem voice which is effective rather than the schmaltz of The Lovely Bones. Unusual mood to the story too.
