Thoroughly enjoyable

From 3000BC right up to Half of a Yellow Son by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie this mad dash through *some* of the world's literary history is great fun, and has prompted me to try some novels that I would otherwise have left unread. I listened to this on Audible.co.uk in the car: 15hrs and 20mins. Great fun, if you're not too proud to read an introductory teratment to a topic, and to specific books, you may already know much of. I say *some* because much poetry is left out (and that dealt with is treated too superficially to be of interest), and the focus from Daniel Defoe onwards is the novel, and genres of fiction writing. Thoroughly enjoyed.

Would've been a good buy if the narrator showed some enthusiasm for what she was readin' but she droned on a bit, thought my ears were gonna bleed, so it's no to good buy, yes to goodbye.
