Summary
After one night, he walked away. He’s going to live to regret it.
Mari
Growing up alone in Quarry Pack, I always dreamed of a mate who’d sweep me off my feet and carry me away to our very own cottage that we’d fill with pups and love and laughter. A real family.
What I got?
Wham, bam, thank you ma’am.
The pack sees Darragh Ryan as a tortured hero with a dark past, protecting the pack from afar.
I know better. He’s a jerk who can’t deal with people so he’s chosen to live in the wilderness and—I don’t know—brood. One thing I do know is that he doesn’t get to reject me.
I reject him.
Darragh
Mari doesn’t understand what she doesn’t know. She’s naïve, soft, and way too young and sweet for a life of self-imposed exile.
She’s a grown female who sits in trees, reading books, and wears party dresses to garden. Everything she owns is pink. Her wolf is probably pink.
She can’t handle the real world, and she sure can’t handle my wolf. No one can.
One day, she’ll understand why I won’t claim her, and she might not thank me, but she should.
Because my wolf? Given half a chance, he’d tear her apart.
The Lone Wolf’s Rejected Mate is the third novel in The Five Packs series, but it can be listened to as a stand-alone. No cheating. HEA guaranteed. Intended for adult listeners only.

More than I expected!
This was my first book by Cate C. Wells and it was more than I expected. If I understood the series plot correctly, this is a pack transitioning from life under tyranny with archaic laws to a more modern, cohesive community. Those who straddle the two experiences carry their trauma with them. The two protagonists are two such characters. For Mari it is the sense of rejection and abandonment, and for Darragh, it is his ruthless and savage wolf. They are mates, but can two damaged people make each other whole?
Well, yes. Of course. This book has a HEA but there is just so much for them to get through before they win their much deserved peace.
I enjoyed this book as an adventurous, emotional and romantic bit of Paranormal Romance escapism. The narration was good and the story moved quickly. Despite being a part of a series, it stood up well as a standalone book. I know I will be back for more!
This audiobook was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

Lots of angst and adventure
This is a great listen with two strong characters with tragic back stories. Mari and Darragh’s story has a very rocky beginning. This story has plenty of angst adventure and romance. I enjoyed this listen and look forward to reading and listening to more by Cate C Wells
The narration is good.

Great story
Loved the characters and the whole taming the mad/wild wolf/man. Great story and plot development, sometimes Mary got on my nerves, but ultimately when she grew up she was great! If you love shifter romance with pack politics and communities with some serious actions and blood shed, you will like this one!
