Summary
Your personal goals need a long-term strategy.
It's no secret that we're pushed to the limit. Today's professionals feel rushed, overwhelmed, and perennially behind. How can we break out of the cycle and create the kind of interesting, meaningful lives that we all seek? Just as CEOs who optimize for quarterly profits often fail to make the strategic investments necessary for long-term growth, the same is true in our own personal and professional lives. As top business thinker and Duke University professor Dorie Clark explains, we all know intellectually that lasting success takes persistence and effort. And yet, so much of the relentless pressure in our culture pushes us toward doing what's easy, what's guaranteed, and what looks glamorous in the moment.
In The Long Game, she argues for a different path. It's about doing small things over time to achieve your goals - and being willing to keep at them, even when they seem pointless, boring, or hard. In The Long Game, Clark shares unique principles and frameworks, as well as her own instructive experiences, to show how you can tap the same 24 hours everyone has - but leverage them in more efficient and powerful ways to break out of the frenetic day-to-day routine and transform your life and career.

The new habit manual for success post pandemic
Loved it so much I'll be buying the physical book too. Can see me referring to this book as much as Stephen Covey's 7 Habits.

stunningly good
Helpful for anyone who's goals feel too big to fit into right now. There's info on making more time, choosing the right thing to work on and lots of inspiring examples from both dorie and her friends and acquaintances.
it's also got that excellent advantage for a business book - it's both short, entertaining and filled with practical stories. So you can absorb quickly and the examples stay with you as they're interesting stories. Strongly recommend (her other books are excellent too).

Awesome
I've read all Dorie Clarks books and she awes me in every one. I recommend the books to everyone who is willing to listen, and this one will be no different.
Thank you. I'll have to get a hard copy for this one too. It's worth every letter on it.

Just ok
Brings together concepts and ideas that are explained and covered much better elsewhere. Might be enjoyed by those who are under 30 and who are new to the world of Business books; others won’t get much from the book.
Too anecdotal in style and might have been better being read by a professional narrator too.

Not for me
The author clearly has a lot of knowledge and experience to pass on. For me, I didn't really enjoy the listen. There's a little too much "I did this" and "this person published a book" for my taste. This will be good for some, particularly people who would love to be speaking at industry conferences one day!

Nothing interesting
The book is party autobiography, rather unoriginal, narrow-minded, mixing talking about human life with corporation management as if they were the same thing.
