About this listen
The third incredible novel in the highly acclaimed Malabar House series featuring Persis Wadia, India's first female police detective.
A Times Audiobook of the Week
Bombay, 1950
When the body of a white man is found frozen in the Himalayan foothills near Dehra Dun, he is christened the Ice Man by the national media. Who is he? How long has he been there? Why was he killed?
As Inspector Persis Wadia and Metropolitan Police criminalist Archie Blackfinch investigate the case in Bombay, they uncover a trail left behind by the enigmatic Ice Man - a trail leading directly into the dark heart of conspiracy.
Meanwhile, two new murders grip the city. Is there a serial killer on the loose, targeting Europeans?
Rich in atmosphere, the thrilling third chapter in the CWA Historical Dagger-winning Malabar House series pits Persis against a mystery from beyond the grave, unfolding against the backdrop of a turbulent post-colonial India, a nation struggling to redefine itself in the shadow of the Raj.

I love this series
I'm binging my way through this series. I love the intricate, cross cultural plots and all the main characters. The historical context in post partition India with the extra richness of the European as well as British fall out from the second world war is fascinating. Persis is a magnificent heroine. The narrator really brings it all to life. Very sad that my next listen will be the last of this series.

Very evocative
A great listen - well read and loved to hear about India emerging from its British rule. Persis is a great character and it must have been so tough for women in those days. Probably still is! Will definitely look into the other books

Great third book!
I'm three-for-three with this book series, really enjoyed another of Vaseem's works, wonderfully brought to life by Maya Saroya!
Now to wait (impatiently!) for a fourth book to be released!

Really enjoyed this book
I’m reading this out of sequence as I just came upon a recommendation for it from The Times. Can’t wait to read the other two

How stubborn and arrogant Persius is.
Overall, quite an enjoyable listen. Fell a bit flat towards the end. Intrigue, twists and turns. Well read.

Excellent mystery but sub par romance
I’d be happy if there was no romance on these books but since there is, our here needs to (as the saying goes) piss or get off the pot! If she isn’t in love after 4 books then put us all out of our misery!

Definitely want more of this!
Really liked this book. So nicely written and paced. I loved the main character and would like to follow her struggles and exploits. The small insights into India as a country as it emerges from years as a colony are really interesting and slightly heart-rending. The narration is beautiful too. TriciaXx
