Summary
A beautiful, opposites attract lesbian romance about hearing the music in your heart.
Rising star cellist Kate Flynn is new to Chicago and her job at the Windy City Chamber Ensemble. On day one, she is surprised by the board's intriguing president, Vivian Kensington. Not only does the woman come with a formidable reputation, but she's also deaf.
However, between a familiar face Kate isn't ready to see again and the difficulties of being a single mom, she isn't sure Chicago is the right place for her.
When tendrils of friendship develop with Vivian, Kate finds beneath her prickly ice queen persona unexpected kindness and warmth. Is the promise of more enough to make her stay? Can two such different women, one from a world of sound and one a world of silence, truly understand one another?
Contains mature themes.

Highly recommended
This book is written with great sensitivity and understanding of the issue it features. To a degree where it felt that it must have been written by someone who had deep experience of the practical difficulties and the emotions felt by those who live in the same way as the main character. It certainly raised my awareness and sensitivity to those concerned.
Beautifully written and as always beautifully narrated by Abby Craden. I very much hope to be able to read more by this author, It has been a rare and wonderful experience to enjoy a book which has been written with such depth and compassion.

Brilliant Book Expertly Narrated
My first Olivia Janae book and it certainly won’t be the last! Abby Craden’s performance was as usual outstanding. The Loudest Silence was moving and inspirational but not without angst!

Finally! 😭
The original version of this is still to this day my favourite story of all time. I carry a copy of it with me everywhere. It was the final push I needed to start studying Sign Language.
When it released as a fully fledged book I was so excited and pleased for O.J. And always said I wished it could be an audiobook so I could listen while I settle for sleep. Now it’s here and I’m so emotional 😭💖 it’s been a long time coming and it’s as perfect as I could have hoped.
Seriously, give it a read/listen. It will melt even the coldest of hearts!

Enjoyable
Loved the diversity, haven't seen a story with the deaf community yet. The only thing I struggled with was that I felt it sometimes moved too fast. One second they're making love the next it's a totally different scene it's like nothing was finished. So that was strange, but other than that it was great.

Not the best
I always love finding a new wlw author, especially if someone of the calibre of Abby is narrating. Abby was wonderful, as always. I really struggled with getting through the latter half of this book. Kate became really unlikeable and I didn’t really warm to her again. Vivian is described as an ‘ice queen’ but displays none of that particular trope’s qualities… like, at ALL! The concept of the book is great, the writing is also good - no issues with the writing style at all. But the character development and story itself seemed underdeveloped. Vivian’s mother is truly awful and has caused years of trauma, but this is just glossed over in the last two minutes. It’s all very surface level and a bit disappointing. The only character I actually really liked was Charlie. Vivian started off strong and direct, but became disappointingly flat as soon as she started dating Kate - which seemed to happen at the drop of a hat immediately. There was no buildup or tension, so I wondered what the crux of the story was. I’m still not totally sure I know now. The angst there was seemed planted and tiring. For me, it was just okay. I tend to listen to a lot of books more than once, but have to say I won’t listen to this again, but it’s not refund-worthy either.
