The appalling use of an American narrator with little or no feeling for the story.
I've just listened to The Man Eaters Tigers of Kumaon read by a mid-Western American when the author was Anglo-Irish and oart of the British Empire. That was as unsuccessfully and tactlessly read as this book. Honestly, stop Americanising other nations stories. This needed a clipped, British accent to emulate the writing style of the author. The US was young when these events occurred and writing about man-eaters in Africa and India was peculiarly and particularly British at that time. Audible, this is a tangible FAIL. The books read far more fluidly and dramatically than these contemptibly languid efforts. Awful. I advise you to read the books and save your ears and money.
