About this listen
Formula One Grand Prix mechanic Steve Matchett takes the listener on a compelling journey through his life in the pit-lane, from his beginnings as a young apprentice through his time at Ferrari and BMW to his later success with Benetton.
He gives eye-witness views of the great drivers, including Michael Schumacher, Nigel Mansell, Alain Prost, and Ayrton Senna. He also talks of key Benetton personalities and explains how the team was transformed into a strong, competitive organization, winning three World Championships.

Moaning
Sorry but I personally found the constant complaining about lack of sleep, being tired, how his mate had to get him out of bed and how depressing it is over a race weekend to much..... really struggling to finish the book....

Fascinating
Love it. Addictive, replaying 90’s f1. Funny, heartbreaking, hilarious, sad.
Highly recommended for any f1 fan

The book with the best insight into F1 Racing
So much detail used to describe every step of the story, would recommend to anyone who is interested the slightest in racing and wants to get a taste of it.

Fascinating!
I found it incredibly fascinating reading what was when I really got into watching F1. I had forgotten so much but there was so much more to it than I knew. I also laughed at some of the stuff that hasn't aged well and agreed whole heartedly with Steve's pronouncements on refueling, which is again being touted.

Plodding and dull
Slow, plodding narration delivering mindnumbingly dull anecdotes peppered with nonsense quotes and inane ramblings. An extremely disappointing listen that could have been condensed to about an hour of mildly interesting insights.

RUBBISH
This book is over 9 hours long and I managed half that. It started well until he got into the f1 team then it was downhill from there.Sorry couldn't take anymore of the constant drivel.

Nothing new here except ranting
I can’t see the point of this book. There’s very little valuable information about F1 and racing and far too much unhinged ranting about how the author is uncomfortable, how much he hates travel, getting up in the morning and has a general attitude of everything and everyone in the world being against him.
Manages to make the fast paced and interesting life of F1 teams sound like a trivial and forgettable day at the office.

valiant effort to be amusing
A laborious Wallace and Grommit style reading of the author's dinner party set pieces. Too little behind the scenes F1, too much irrelevant waffle.
