About this listen

Here is an unapologetic look into the factors that have caused so many Blacks to think and act in the negative way they do towards themselves and others. This timely body of work is from a man well versed in the American educational system, as well as educational systems throughout the world. Dr. Carter G. Woodson was the second Black person to receive a Ph.D. from Harvard University after W. E. B. DuBois. He served as Dean of Education at both Howard and Morehouse universities. And he was over the entire educational system for Malaysia for three years.

Founder of Black History Month, Dr. Woodson would go on to write over 20 books detailing Negro history and life. His life story is as much of a classic as this monumental book.

If you could sum up The Mis-Education of the Negro in three words, what would they be?

A good book published in 1933 and still has relevance today.
Just a shame that the narrator seemed to be in a rush. Spending an extra 30 mins would have done the book more justice.

Good book, narrator in a rush.

As a father of a teenage boy and a daughter of toddler age, I am someone interested in the state of education and this is a fantastic book for those who have a thirst for knowledge!! I work in a school and have struggled with the relevance of the curriculum to black students and the limits of the history that we are taught. This book has answered some questions and raised others, all while remaining level headed, informative and on topic. No matter your ethnicity, this book will challange your mind to look deeper at what you know as formal education. I have recommended it to friends and family and do the same to you.

I was meaning to read this title for some years and finally did it here on Audible. Now I am inclined to get it in hard copy. The content remains entirely relevant today and I will have to re-evaluate my entire existence once again as a result of this listen. To me that means it is worthy and valuable.

Excellent work!
