Critic reviews

"When I read The New Rules for the first time, it was a 'eureka' moment for me at HubSpot. David nailed the fundamental shifts going on in the buyer-seller relationship and wrote the classic text to help marketers take advantage of them." (Brian Halligan, CEO, HubSpot, and coauthor of Inbound Marketing)

Really Useful Info

I really enjoyed this audio book and it gave me lots of ideas but I suspect that I'll need the book to refer back to for implementation because it covers so much.

Looking forward to the next one

A Good Listen

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, I think anyone who is in online marketing should read/listen to this. Nothing much in here is new if you're already doing it, but it does reinforce the importance of "buyer personas " and content marketing

What does David Meerman Scott and Sean Pratt bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

I found the narrater enthusiastic and (unlike some) easy to listen to in the car

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No - I was doing it in 1.5 hour stints in my car during a bi-weekly commute.

Any additional comments?

I enjoyed the book - although it felt a little long at times when things are repeated (but that's not uncommon with books like this) Useful information presented & read well - Now I just have to implement some of them!

Good but could be made better for audio

Would you consider the audio edition of The New Rules of Marketing and PR to be better than the print version?

Don't know as I haven't read the printed version

What about David Meerman Scott and Sean Pratt ’s performance did you like?

He speaks well but I could have done without all the boasting at the beginning.

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

How to use your connections to sell lots of books

Any additional comments?

Yes. My major fault with this audio book is the lack of detail concerning chapter headings. Calling them 'chapter 1', 'Chapter 2' and so on is no help to the listener. I need to know which chapters contain what information. After all this is a reference book and not a novel.

What did you like most about The New Rules of Marketing and PR?

Easy to listen to (although a little lengthy), full of great insight.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

You couldn't listen to it in one sitting although I listed for an hour a day for a coupe of weeks whilst in the car.

Great book, clear and interesting with lots of case studies

The book details many examples how big businesses and small communities have used online marketing to build an online presence. I've recommended to many people especially people who are looking to find new ways of marketing their information.

A great book

This is a really good book. It's marked down because some of its technology is a little outdated but the ideas and concepts are top notch.

Good for general marketing but not focused on online

Interesting marketing but dusted off older marketing info presented as an online reference. Some interesting info but for the most part I did not finish chapters.
